Tied up at 9 with 11 and change left in the first. First thoughts on the game, Vance Walberg is a stylish mofo.

How many games did they say were on in the next 24 hours?

DK obviously went to school on the defense Tim Floyd used to stifle Memphis last year.

He knows this team like the back of his hand. DK is doing a hell of a job right now, even if he isn't winning. The Tigers just look off tonight, way off.

My thoughts exactly, UMass is outgunned, but very much in this ballgame.

How good do you think UMass will be under Kellogg hat? I have a feeling they could be dominating that conference for most of his tenure.

Actually, while we are on a related subject, anyone have any thoughts on the A10 this year?

I don't think they'll dominate, because Xavier, St. Joe's, and Temple have really good programs. I also think Rick Majerus will get St. Louis up and running. He will be very successful.

X, Saint Joe's, and Temple will be good. St. Louis and GW will be better. UMASS and Charlotte should be pretty good. Keep an eye on LaSalle and Richmond. Dayton should also be competitive.

True, that could certainly be flirting with power conference status in the coming years.

Edit: Let me qualify that, when I say power conference, I mean they will be better than some of the BCS conferences.

How many bids are realistic, 3? I am thinking something in that range. I like Richmond as a team that can sneak up in that conference, Gonzalez is pretty damn good.

I could see the A-10 getting 4. There are some power conferences that are going to get fewer bids than normal.

If Dan Geriot hadn't gotten hurt, Richmond would have been the darkhorse to win the league.

All evidence of this game should be burned to protect the participants from embarrassment.

Is he out for the season? I heard that he had been hurt and would probably miss the season, but never found any news on it since then.

That was one of the worst shooting displays I've ever seen. I knew Memphis would struggle to shoot it, but that was ridiculous.

Memphis made some FTs (granted there was little pressure). Witherspoon looked legit to me. Evans was clearly bothered by his recent physical issues, but was still the best player on the floor. I don't know how many steals he had, but it felt like about 40.

Witherspoon is going to be a very good player when he learns Cals game, he just needs a little time but he has a huge upside. (IMO)
