Umpiring in these baseball and softball regionals…

I have a very close friend who just retired for the SEC umpiring so I certainly appreciate the job they do. Having said that…the overturned calls on replay seem to have spiked during the regionals. Lots of bang bang plays for sure.

I thought the crew(s) in our regional did a pretty decent job although they seemed to have some trouble with calls at first base yesterday.

Some crews are better than others, but missed calls that need overturning and poor ball/strike calls have been beyond poor overall in both sports.

I like to razz the officials more than most, but if I'm being honest they get most of the reviewed calls correct in real time. Granted if they are in correct position they have a good view of the play, but it still impresses me how many they get correct that are ultra close. The ones I disagree with the most are balls/strikes by softball umps though. It's almost like they purposely avoid the strike zone definition.

makes one ALMOST yearn for SEC football & basketball officials 🤷🏻 Brutal inconsistency from Blue.
In our baseball games, there were a few calls reversed, all of which were because our coach asked for a review. We would not have beaten Clemson if the call had not been reversed.
