Has anyone else heard of this travesty?? This resolution that was voted on in 1992, and I haven't heard about it until just recently. Most of the socialist movement taking place in our country makes sense now....

Agenda 21: Definition and Much More from Answers.com

I am sure there are other links, but this one lines it out easiest for most. This is crazy to think our government wants to be more a part of globalization than I once previously thought.

While I did just scan over this, I'm kind of failing to see why it is a travesty. I'm guessing that I missed something....

I don't think that it is the sustainable development that you are upset about....is it the global effort - do you see it as an outright distribution of resources? I didn't get that - I guess I saw it as an outline to encourage sustaining one's own resources.

My point is, why does the UN have to do anything with our way of life?? What point do they have sticking their political noses in our business?? I don't need a global organization telling my government what to do, my government is big enough to do that on its own.

I think that the Montreal Protocol is a good example of the UN sticking their nose in our country's (and others') business to do good - that is, to limit CFC production/use so that we could patch the ozone back up. Some things require international coordination. I guess I saw it as an approved/suggested roadmap for moving towards sustainable development. This is something hugely important for smaller, developing nations. For the US, just basic resource sustainability would be more the focus. Don't get me wrong, sovereignty is paramount - but have that as long as we have our veto and our military.
