Tennessee entered Saturday's game ranked fifth in the SEC and 27th nationally in punt-return defense at 4.8 yards per return, and the Vols were 10th in the league and 93rd in the country in kickoff coverage at 23.1 yards per return.

Same players...

Comes down to coaching/scheme/execution

The staff learned some things today. Again, they are freshmen in this league.

Hyams said before this game we were averaging 4.4 yds per return. I don't know why we melted down yesterday.

We need enough good players to put on special teams. Lack of depth shows up there first. All of our starters would have to play on the coverage teams for us to have a chance.

There were some personnel changes on special teams this week. I noticed some new players on the kickoff and punt return teams. Christian Harris no longer playing on them. Didn't work out so good. I am told that CBJ coaches these units himself, not Elder.

I was more concerned about the special teams yesterday than the defense because the bad defensive play was expected. We just don't have any speed any where on D except for Cam Sutton.

As for the special teams, they had been playing well all year so I'm not sure what happened yesterday. Exclude Palardy from this because he played well and did his part. Hell, he even made a tackle on one of the returns that Aubbie didn't return for a TD.
