How does Volnation feel about adding Duke/UNC. Got to get those grades up I guess. It seems like there are some more attractive teams the SEC could add. Va tech/ FSU for instance

I'd take UNC over any other school in the conference as pretty much every conference would. The program is considered to be one of the greatest sleeping giants due to the recruiting base. Unfortunately they have had problems keeping players instate and away from the SEC (Florida has a lot of pull there). However, when Butch Davis was there they were able to keep more players instate, and put quite a few players in the NFL from that North Carolina Virginia area. With the SEC to sell to recruits they could be even more successful with instate recruits. Plus you add in there success in a variety of other sports and their academic prowess. Not as thrilled about Duke, but the rumor is UNC and Duke have agreef to not go anywhere without the other.

All of the conference merging and expansion that has gone on the last few years is driven by profits and television markets... not grades.

We had this thread awhile ago. Most said no. Wonder how things go this time around. We need a poll. I would take them both in a heart beat.

Not entirely true. While it may not be driven by academics, they certainly play a role when considering all potential candidates. For example there is a reason big 10 expansion has only included AAU member universities.

Certainly did not mean it that way (as in telling you what to start a thread about). I just want to see how different people feel about it now as opposed to then. Seems like it would put us at the top of football and basketball for quite awhile.

We've already added four teams that have no business in the SEC let's leave it alone let's don't add anybody else

VA Tech stay away! Duke stay away. Maybe Clemson. Maybe FL st. BUT, the required schedule is already touch enough. Do we really need to make tougher? There needs to be some "rest" games in between the tough, arm breaking SEC games.
