UNC Kissed by the NCAA?

Davis may keep his job but theres no way Carolina cant lose schollys and a bowl ban for atleast a year. If they geta way with it then its gonna open up a whole new can that the ncaa doesnt want to deal with. No way he didnt know what was goin on he should lose his job but he probably wont.

I seem to remember similar threads during the Bruce Pearl firing saying that nothing would happen to Tressel. How did that work out?

UNC can still incur massive penalties despite no LOIC. They literally broke every rule in the book. An assistant, on the football staff, employed as a runner for an agent? They won't be getting "kissed" for this.

What Butch and Blake did makes what Kiffin and Co did look like penny ante stuff. If UNC walks away clean, so should not only the Vols but every other program currently accused of infractions by the NCAA.

The fact one of the coaches was involved surely is a "lack of instatutional control" at least in my mind.

As it gets closer to their meeting with the COI I feel it is that harder for Davis to keep his job as more will be dug up (like Pearl and Tressel). It looks like wins are going to be vacated as well, easy to say he will keep his job now.

I thought I read there were 6 MAJOR violations? How does a program or a coach, for that matter, walk? This is going to be interesting...

Woodsman, UNC will not walk from these charges IMO. Davis is up "its creek. How do they save face?

If anyone at UNC has any shred of intelligence (and I'm seriously doubting anyone does with these recent developments), he's gone. At the very least, the 2009 and 2010 seasons will be vacated.

I imagine UNC will get female dog-slapped by the 'AA. I'm hoping it's something like the scene in the basement of that pawn shop on Pulp Fiction.

Hopefully the same thing happens to Davis. I knew something would happen to OSU, just didn't think it would happen so fast.

I gotta admit I was shocked when Tressel resigned.

Having lived in Columbus Ohio 17 years, I honestly thought they'd just ride it out. I will still say though if he had of won a national Champ game against either FL or LSU he might still be there. I feel, it is only my opinion, that some who make the decisions felt they could still get a better coach.

I was still stunned though he left. Leads me believe more will come out.

Knowingly playing ineligible players is probably grounds for termination regardless of past success.

Knowingly playing ineligible players is probably grounds for termination regardless of past success.

Its also grounds for a Show Cause, bowl bans, a vacated season, and 24 - 40 scholarships over 4 years.

Ohio State firing him was the bar minimum to reduce a few of the scholarship loses down to USC levels. The guy was already suspended for 5 games and is going to get a Show Cause letter that will make Bruce Pearl thank the NCAA for showing leniency.
