I will take UNC, LSU's QB is not very good, early in the year, LSU is not very well coached, and Les Miles not very good.

Did I mention that LSU is not very well coached?

Plus, Chavis seems like he is not prepared at the beginning of the year, Cal in 07, UW last year, UCLA in 08.

LSU. UNC has a much better coach, but I don't see that being enough to overcome the talent advantage LSU will have. In the GA Dome, I would expect a pro-LSU crowd as UNC fans generally don't care enough about football to travel.

I fear you are sadly mistaking the Heels D to be average.

They find a QB this could be a hell of a way to kick off the year.

LSU has better atheletes on offense. Both teams match up on D pretty close. I remember watching UNCs D last year against VT. They were flying all over the field. Reminded me of an SEC defense.

LSU is fast. I watched their spring game... They, as always, have some speed at the skill positions which should make up for their poor QB play.
LSU 23 UNC 17.

LSU's QB play is pretty shaky correct? It amazes me what Les Miles can do with top 5 talent!

In spite of Les Miles astounding ability to squander annual all-star recruiting classes, I'll take LSU by a hair in this one.

This.

Davis has had a few chokes of his own at UNC. It's a given UNC doesn't have the football talent that LSU has but they have lost a few games over the past couple of seasons that they definitely should have won.

I kinda look at this year's ACC-SEC kickoff game like I look at game 2 years ago. Everyone thought that Alabama-Clemson would be a good game between two highly ranked teams. Alabama came out, destroyed Clemson, and went on to only lose one game. LSU has an opportunity to set the tone for the rest of the season. Although UNC isn't as highly thought of as Clemson was (at the time), neither is LSU. If LSU can come out, play an all around solid game, and beat UNC handily, that will give the tigers some confidence, which they lacked last year.

Spot on 151..agree on all points..UNC's D will keep them in the game...but their inept offense will hurt them in this one...LSU and it's athletes pull this one out late...

This.

A lot of people on this board give Butch a lot of credit for being such a great coach and go so far as to wish he were our coach. As a resident of The Triangle and seeing many of Carolina's games I can tell you that UNC and Butch have underachieved during his tenure. Has Carolina improved? Yes. However, UNC has had the opportunity to take advantage of a mediocre league and have let that slip away. In 2008 UNC led in the 4th qtr in 11 of 12 games and wound up 8-5. To me that is an indictment of coaching. UNC has also lost to UVA in consecutive years, that would be the equivalent to us losing to Miss. St. in consecutive years.

It will take a lot for me to believe in UNC this year. The defense should be good, emphasis on should. UNC doesn't do well against real opponents, especially against physical squads. Every time UNC faces a very good offensive team or player they get exposed (see FSU w/ Ponder or Pitt RB McCoy). Marvin Austin may be the most overrated player in the country, but the ends and the OLB's are outstanding.

I expect LSU to be able to run the ball and take away the Heel's front 7's confidence. If this happens it will be Bama vs. Clemson all over again. TJ Yates will have a long night against a very athletic LSU D and give up a pick 6. LSU wins 27-9 .

Should be a good game, I expect low scoring. Now for the record I can't stand the Chief and almost hate Crowton, at least the Chief was able to come in stabilize. Basically, Miles's job will be on the line if the offense doesn't improve. I think the offense will improve some from what I could go on from the Spring Game.

With that said, LSU by a FG but to me it could go either way. For the season, I would say 3-5 losses based mostly on the strength of schedule, really not expecting a top team for 1-2 more years when the 2008-2009 recruits come online. Jordan is not the answer at QB and will be the weak link.

As far as the DS talking about wasting top 5 talent, I wonder if he actually saw the players Tennessee has had over the same time period from 2005... 2 top 5 classes... actually Tennessee has better classes then LSU 2 of the last 5 years. I guess it's better to talk bad about some other team instead of actually supporting the game and your team as a sport and not a war. It's the if my team sucks, I guess I will just say how the other teams are so bad too-attitude.

I mean, USC has been the most stable recruiting force for the whole decade and I don't see anyone ripping on Carroll for not winning a NC every year.

As far as LSU we run a decent program and the program has nothing to be ashamed of. Anyone that expects a team to win a national championship every year is in for a world of hurt. Yeah the fans are a little down but so what, any given Saturday we can still play with the best.

He was still able to come away with a conference title and a BCS win the vast majority of the time.

I'm aware that Tennessee has made waste of all-star recruiting classes. Some through potential that doesn't get realized, some through attrition. We've had a lot of talented guys over the last few years leave/lose scholarships. The pot is calling the kettle black, yes, but the pot is still correct.

Sorry but its like you slept though the last 10 years... LSU has been in the top 3 college programs and to me they are tied with Florida but I could see USC maybe being in the mix even though they didn't even win 1 NCS. Yep LSU is failure only won a NCS 28 months ago, man they are horrible... yeah we should have won in 2008 and 2009 too. Tennessee has has very good classes, so what?

Being a sore loser is not a good quality.

No, it's not like the pot calling the kettle black, it's more like the pot calling the golden cup black, well the pot is just a wrong stupid piece of iron. The reason the pot will continue to be a stupid piece of iron is because it's too worried about what all the golden cups are doing.

All you are is a sore loser, unless you have been on some other planet during the last decade.

Before the LSU Spring game I thought LSU would win easily but that was some awful QB play..

UNC has a good D but its a little overrated.

I see a low scoring game...LSU 17 UNC 14.
