It'll be interesting to see how the NCAA deals with this since they took a very long time to announce anything.

Update: total punishment according to WRAL, including UNC’s self-imposed punishments:

* No postseason participation following the 2012 season – ACC championship game and bowl game
* Three years of probation
* Loss of 15 scholarships over three seasons
* Vacancy of all 16 wins from the 2008 and 2009 seasons
* $50,000 fine

That's pretty harsh.

I would love it if they won 11 games next year and couldn't do anything in the postseason. After next year I hope they lose every game.

How the hell UNC gets this type punishment and OSU gets barley a slap on the wrist is beyond deplorable to me.

I see no reason why Ohio State should not go ahead and give any benefits that their players want if that is as hard as the NCAA will go. No reason not to cheat

Because the NCAA likes to take care of its big money-makers... OSU is a huge program they would'nt want to cripple very much. You saw it with UT as well.. UT finishes in the top 5 in both football and basketball attendance... The only school in the country that can say that, which means we rake in alot of money, and therefore the NCAA gives us a slap on the wrist as well. They pick and chose who they want to make examples out of.

Do they have any seniors we would take?

I don't think they ruled for penalty free transfer / schools can recruit current players here.

That was it's own speparate/special addition to USC's (& previously, SMU's) punishment...it's no something that just automatically comes into play when a team's banned from postseason won year

Vacating victories is a moronic 'punishment' IMO. What does it accomplish?

Was a move done by the school originally I believe, not something the NCAA came up with.

They're just saying "yes, still do that. / We accept that part of your proposed punishment."

Vacating wins is a pretty typical punishment though. Aside from the bowl ban, I don't see anything too bad with these sanctions unless you compare them with Ohio State....
