A caller on Basilio's show just made (imo) a good point. He proposed that all these coaches are turning us down because they don't want to work for Hart.

These interviews Hart is conducting are two-fold. The coaches he is interviewing are also getting a feel for Hart, knowing he'll be their boss for the course of their time at UT. Looks like Hart might be the one who is a horrible interview; he very well could be scaring everyone away.

According to the media, Jimmy Cheek is also part of the interview process. Maybe he's scaring them away.

i would think the academics versus the athletic department is the bigger question,I'm not sure what the problem is,but it has to be more than what is on the surface

Maybe no one wants to leave a winning program to go to a program that has had 3 head coaches in 5 seasons and a horrible conference record?

Don't take it personally, I'm just saying how could anyone possibly know what is being implied about Hart here? I know we're looking for reasons our beloved program is being turned down left and right, but it may just be that these guys see it as a downgrade.

Besides Gruden who has turned us down that you know for a fact has been offered? Getting a feel for a coaches interest isn't the same as officially offering.

I maybe wrong but I thought Strong and Gundy turned us down? I have no sources but that is what I understood. Is it not true? :hi:

This is indeed what appears to be the case. I hope when this is all done, someone will detail the issues for us more closely. Something clearly is competitively out of ballance in the athletic department.

Jayson Swain tweeted:

" There's a coach on Louisville's staff named in the Yahoo report regarding Miami. UT is doing their due diligence by questioning that."

So this may be the issue with Strong. I think his name is Clint Hurtt... dude was named in the Miami troubles by the booster that allegedly gave him cash to get players to restaurants:

Allegations: Clint Hurtt - Investigations - Yahoo! Sports

He made a point that was 100% baseless..... how the hell would either of you know what type of interaction transpires in an interview??? Gundy has been reported to interview at Sextons request to get a raise (no true interest...see that same shows interpretation of that conversation between Hart and Gundy) yet somehow our brilliant fans conclude that it must be Harts personality thats scaring the coaches... completely freaking baseless

another UNDERLYING ISSUE may be the unsatiable fanbase who is going to lynch any new coach/administration.... we're not exactly known for having the most supportive fans

I don't know; it was a question posed for discussion.

If we only discussed things that we KNOW, as you clearly seem to think we should, we would only be discussing the fact that we currently have no HC. I made NO conclusions whatsoever. Again, I posed a question, a possibility. After all, the name of this forum is Tennessee Coaching Rumors and SPECULATION.

You would be well advised to focus on comprehending what was posted.
