On ESPN now. Worth a watch, though the " weight of the city" on his shoulders is tired.
Mods, didn't know where to put the thread.

Just finished watching it. Well worth it.

It's crazy how far he fell and still made it to where he is today.

What a great release he had and smooth player.
He just has that addiction trait. No therapy can help. No rehab can help. I've seen it many times (and battled a few things in my mid 20's, though never could think about putting a needle in my body). When he spoke of his dish room where he did his soul searching--that's what every addict has to do to--look in the mirror. Noone can help you but yourself. He's very fortunate to have made it through and seems very aware of that fact. Hope he keeps on.

Reminds me of the old John Prine song - Sam Stone - There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes. Sad.

Powerful stuff. Addiction is such a hard thing to deal with. I like that Herren talks to kids about not making the same terrible mistakes he did.

What was interesting was how many times he seem to fall. Outstanding story for those that feel like their bad decisions leave them no where but suicide. You felt sorry for his family and appreciate their willingness to stand behind him all the way through it. His wife would have had to been a special person to dealt with that the way she did.

I never followed BBall that much. Was he really as good as the show advertised? They made him sound like the next Jordan.

Good enough to stay awake for 3 days straight and still light you up, and.one of the best releases you can find.

Good assessment. His wife is a very special woman.

I got the impression that Herren is one unsupervised weekend away from falling back into his addiction. I never got the feeling that he's completely kicked the habit.

Watched it, got sucked in like I do with a lot of these 30 for 30s or whatever they're calling them now.

Roll Tide/War Eagle is next. Licking my chops over that one!

Never been close to his situation, but I have seen people who have been. Its a life long battle after getting in as deep as he did. He will need constant support and a strong determination to stay clean for years and years to come. I hope he does, his family has invested a lot into him.

I've been around it, and my fear about Herren is for many years he needed drugs to function daily, as opposed to drugs being a recreational activity at a club/party after a game or practice. The documentary suggested he was a better basketball player when he was high.

It's going to be a tough road for him, but he's got a great support system around him.

Excellent documentary. The way he tells the story, he just has a lot of charisma.

I agree, it seems like this is a serious battle he is going to fight for a long time, but he seems to be doing well at the moment.

Better overall game and ball handler. He was one of those players that looked almost effortless.

I knew a lot of guys that took a lot of different pills and played football, basketball, baseball, but would hit a wall or didn't max out potential, outside of a 5 minute spurt of ridiculous moves from time to time. Amazing that Herren played at that level. Almost like he became a character of some sort on the court and needed the pills to get in character, like an actor.

I can't judge too much as I did some of the same things. Had a hard dunk on a kid as a jr in hs and I had so many white crosses in my system I am surprised I didn't keel over. I had never been that high in the air. What a fool.

On a lesser note, I become a really good golfer after about 6 beers. Ashame I don't have the game to play it straight up, but it makes me loose and my hands get through.
