3 Star SG Austin Hatch from Indiana is in ICU after a plane crash. Talk about awful luck for this kid. I would never want to fly again if I were him.

Austin’s father, Stephen Hatch, and his wife Kim were killed in the crash while Austin survived the accident and has been hospitalized in Traverse City.

This is the second time that the Hatch family has been involved in a plane crash. In 2003, Stephen Hatch was piloting a plane from Michigan to Fort Wayne which clipped a power pole. Austin was eight at the time but survived the crash. His mother, Julie, 11-year old sister Lindsay and 5-year old brother Ian were killed in the first crash.

This kid has had a tragic, yet lucky, young life. It's of epic proportions!

May God bless this young man.

I don't know how is dad could fly after his first crash. I don't think I could get in a small plane again. Tragic.

Considering the previous airplane crash that he was in that killed his mom and two siblings this is an amazingly sad story!

Awful. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and I hope he makes a full recovery. It's sad because if he does survive he will have no immediate family.

A buddy of mine who is a huge UM fan just texted me and said the word is Stephen has sadly past away. Nothing to confirm this and hopefully it's not correct info!

I agree. I couldn't imagine being able to fly my family again after something like that. It would be difficult to even drive after something like that happening; but, it is almost impossible to avoid driving. Flying, on the other hand...

Poor kid...

This reminds me of the former Alabama football player a few years back. He was older, but had a tragic car accident in which his whole family sadly died except for him. Anyone else remember this? Either way, not meaning to draw comparisons, not sure if one can.

Moral of the Story: Life is short and unfair.

This kid and his family are definitely in my thoughts. Hope he makes a recovery.
