Hey mods move if you need to, but I am looking for any sort of help on a new Vol song, kind of how Swiper has done in the past. I am currently about to start writing a new Vol themed song and plan to have it ready to release shortly before football season, probably around mid July ish. However, if anyone has any Ideas to throw out, or any vol themed beats that would help get me started. Thanks for any help you can provide!

How about.... "we gonna whoop they A$$ !!"

And put in something about Fast Twitch.

I want to see some serious VolNation connection.

The pace might be entirely too slow for your taste, but there is another song that has longstanding ties to the Volunteer State. The Pride of the Southland Band rarely fails to play it at halftime. You have probably heard of it: "The Tennessee Waltz."

If you can manage to successfully mention all the "Butch-isms" from that thread the other day in one song, I can guarantee it will be a success. At least here on VN where we "get it"... :)

Especially if you entitle it "The Ballad of Butch."

Today's society has been rap'd to death already.
Try a different avenue.

Exactly. I don't get where they call them "songs" anyhow. And the stuff that Mike & Mike call songs---puke. Take a recorded beat, make up some silly lyrics, and wa la---a song? Cmon man. Dumbing down of America. Alabama had a pretty good song back in 05. "Back on top". And they did get there too.

Why not do something really different? Set the song to the beat of Hillbilly Reggae Girl? Joe Mack plays "Hillbilly Reggae Girl" by Bill Erickson - YouTube

Other tune possibilities that would unusual:
The Calypso Singer - YouTube
Kickin' It In Tennessee - YouTube

"Battle of New Orleans Tennessee Style." It turned out to be a highly prophetic song that received a lot of airtime locally prior to the 1986 Sugar Bowl annihilation of Miami. See Battle of New Orleans 1986 Sugar Bowl - YouTube. Just reconfigure to the lyrics of your choice.

If I remember correctly it was the "Weed Bros" that put together a whole cassette of songs before the 86 Sugar Bowl. They took old songs & changed the words to fit UT. It was great!! Songs like "Battle of New Orleans" & "Sugar, Sugar" I think I wore the tape out I played it so much!

I just checked out the cover of my copy of that ancient cassette and you get abundant Big Orange bonus points for that factoid. It was, indeed, a Weed Brothers Production, recorded at Big Mama Recording Studio for the United Childrens Fund and the Tennessee Talent Commission. In addition to the songs that you cited, other recordings included: "Shake the Sugar Bowl," "City of New Orleans," and "Orange Blooded." Songs recorded by the Pride of the Southland Band included: "Rocky Top," "Tennessee Waltz," "Fight Vols Fight" and "Down the Field."

Here is a Youtube snippet of "Shake the Sugar Bowl": Shake the Sugar Bowl - YouTube
