"Despite an ankle injury, Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge is expected to play this Saturday against LSU."

Question: Had you rather have a 75% Ainge or a 100% Crompton facing a fierce LSU defense??

75% Ainge, without question.....Crompton's first serious action of his career against LSU's defense? Are you kidding?

I like Crompton but without a doubt Ainge. That would be asking for trouble to throw him in against LSU.

Ainge would play, but he wouldn't practice much at all this week.

Crompton would get almost every first team snap in practice and if the situation presented itself, I would get Crompton into the game whenever I could. (I.E. handoff situations, etc)

Yeah, that would be good. Then LSU's defense wouldn't have to guess as to what the Vols are going to do.

Crompton in = run
Ainge in = pass

Brilliant!:p

I guess we will have to wait and see. I would suspect there wont be any firm news until kickoff. I would love to see a 100% ainge in just so we can see a great game not hindered by any of these * at the end!

Nice assumption. I didn't mean every time you are going to hand off the ball, smart guy.

I'm talking about a situation where a QB draw might be the call (ala Tebow) or a situation late in the half or game when you are trying to run out the clock.

I would possibly even practice him in goal line situations all week and play him inside the 15 when the threat of him as a runner would help spread the defense.

Lets just all hope that Ainge will be good to go Sat. I love Crompton but his first start against LSU and no running game.

That makes me cringe.

Which ankle is it? If it's the right ankle he will not be able to plant it on his passing motion and not be able to pass effectively. Nothing worse than a QB throwing the ball high especially if LSU plays zone in the secondary.

Well, you should have included your details in the first post to avoid such responses smart guy. Instead you just left us with (I.E. handoff situations, etc)

I'm not a mind reader.

Anyone wanting Crompton to start vs. LSU is crazy, IMO. Let's all hope that Ainge is OK. K?

I understood what he meant pretty easily. Handoff situations = obvious running situations. I don't think that's too hard to pick up on. Basic football terminology.

Thanks for the update
you know now that i look at LSU's schedule they really haven't played anybody besides Auburn & Florida and they laid an egg in both of those games
heres hoping that they continue their big game record. (but) they do have their backs to the wall
and it will be a dog fight well into the 4th. just my:twocents:
