Update to the Updates on Pearson and Wolf Injuries

While both are huge needs for this team. Wolf is definately the guy we need sooner rather than later, imo. Either way this is tremendously good news considering the alternatives.

I did an extensive search (30 seconds) and also found nothing new. In other news, Peyton is looking pretty good tonight.

I was thinking about how Wolf seems so sure handed and how losing that even for a couple of weeks would hurt the offense. I wonder though, how much teams have been fearing Pearson and are cheating to his side and opening up the shorter lanes?

As much as I love Pearson's game and playmaking ability, Wolf is the one we need back the most right now. Lots of WR depth and big play ability, but Wolf is by far our best TE right now. This kid could be special by the time he leaves UT! Love seeing him wear that #82 also and the fact he chose it because of Jason Witten. He understands what being a Vol is all about, and that it's a privilege to wear that Tennessee uniform. Sold me on what he brings to the table on that tough catch he made Saturday where he just missed getting that foot inbounds for a TD.

All I know is North started wearing a DB blanket after Pearson went out.

Somebody has to wear it. That frees up another top notch playmaker. Wolfe opens up the entire offense. The biggest mismatch we will have in the passing game against OU would be Wolfe vs their LB.

sorta dumb question but is the TE almost always a LBers assignment? even in a nickel and dime?

It really all depends. Teams will scheme differently. In a nickel and Dime package they will have 4dbs on the field. They will generally cover two wide outs and a slot and a TE assuming it is man to man. In a base D many times the coverage falls on the shoulders of the LB.

I'm sure it's been discussed at length and I apologize for not looking but given the injuries what is the projected length of time these players will miss

the only thing that I've heard is that Pearson's injury is the more severe of the two. I really think that Wolf will be ready Saturday but if Von does have a high ankle sprain, I think the minimum would probably be 3 weeks.

This is kinda random but has Creamer got any playing time yet? I realize he is probably a year away from getting any considerable time but dude is really athletic.

I think a much healthier Downs and Helm will be sufficient with the injury of Wolf.

In all honesty, they have to think about the health of these kids, and if either one of them aren't at least 90% then I wouldn't even consider puttin them in. You don't wanna make things worse... plus the bigger focus needs to be on SEC play coming up. If there are any concerns at all let them get 2 weeks of rest, with the off week. Then re-evaluate. Make another player step up, and who knows, maybe another player has a breakout game in Norman. Good chance for someone else to get valuable playing time and build more depth.

seems like the norm going into a game like this... every year... always some of our best players get injured... killing our momentum going into big games....every stinkin year

This receiving corps is extremely deep. I would not sell any of them short. All some of them need to step up and fill the void at TE and wide receiver and the slot is more playing time. Don't act like it's the end of the world because of an injury. Don't forget Young was a slot receiver, Croom a wideout, and we have 3 other tight ends including an improved pass catching Downs to fill that void. After all, we are Wide Receiver U, right? With that being said, wishing a speedy return to the lineup for both injured players.

Injuries are part of the game. We kept Georgia close last year because of injuries, tbh
