I was listening to sports talk on the radio (imagine that) on the way home from golf. The guys were saying that somehow Urban got media credentials for he and his family at the Masters. Apparently he was blocking the view of some real media guys and refused to move.
The guys on the radio were saying they wished someone would have belted him right there. Seems like he is going a little overboard with his feeling of self importance.
I just found this interesting. He must have a lot of clout with someone at Augusta.

I would guess that the Orlando Sentinel got them for him as a peace offering.

Good thing it wasn't real close at the end.

His health wouldn't have been able to take all the excitement.

It appears that Urbie has recovered from his bout of Kiffinitis. I just hope that in a couple of years he gets terminal Dooleygaundis.

Sheesz, you guys are down to whining that he got in the way of the 12,000th press guy at Augusta. Pretty sad that's what you are left with.

What's next? He doesn't change the oil in his car every 3,000 miles? You don't like his lawn guy?

I heard he cut the tags off of every mattress in his house.

I guess "The Jacksonville" is banned for the UF campus too

Badges? Urban Meyer doesn't need any badges | jacksonville.com

Apparently, Florida football coach Urban Meyer can berate the media one week, then take up their working spaces at a major sporting event such as the Masters Tournament.

Two reporters wanted to watch the last few groups play Amen Corner (the 11th green, 12th hole and 13th tee) during the final round, but had to wait at the foot of a small viewing area reserved for the working media until a few people left. It's not uncommon for the area to fill up, and most media members wait patiently for others to leave before they enter the space.

When three people left the stands, they were wearing daily Masters tickets -- the kind that admits fans -- not the working press credentials that are required for admittance to the viewing area. When it was pointed out to a security guard that fans had evidently gotten past him, he replied: "That was coach Urban Meyer and his family."

Just admit it, Urbie is a huge douche

It was a place of work

Just to give some of you folks an idea of the viewing area near Amen Corner that Meyer and his family were in: They're faded, aging, splintery bleachers that look as if they were hijacked from a youth league ball field. There are no bathrooms, concession stands, water fountains for about 100 yards, and no roof or awning. There are zero creature comforts, so I'm hardly whining. There are only two places for the media to cover the tournament, on the course, where there are vantage points marginally better than the fans get, and that's at Amen Corner and between the ninth and 18th holes. They are not air-conditioned press boxes or media centers with free food. They are work places on the golf course, so we can get a better view of the key shots on parts of five of the 18 holes, and therefore be better able to give you, the fans, perspective on what's happening out there. I doubt that Meyer would take kindly to reporters coming to his office or in the coaches box during games and intefere with him doing his job. He should have had the same courtesy regarding ours.
PS: Another former national championship coach from Florida, Steve Spurrier, attends the Masters every year. He's there for a day or two and walks the course with the fans. Never tried to finagle his way into a spot he shouldn't have been. Just thought you folks would like to know that.

My last word

One more comment, and then I'm moving on. Pure and simple, Urban Meyer intruded into a place of work for the media. It was no different than reporters deciding the couches in his office were more comfortable, and deciding to plop down there. And what did I miss? Only three of the last four groups playing one of the most important holes on the course, No. 12. It's also disingenuous for Meyer to do this just a few weeks after he lambasted a reporter for having the gall to quote one of his players accurately.
