Urban Meyer Has Never Had A RB To Rush For 1,000 Yards

It's not that shocking. Think back to Utah where he had Alex Smith. At UF, Tebow was the star. Last year, the QB for OSU had the ball in his hands a lot.

From what I remember his teams as a whole ran for a lot. It wasn't one guy carrying the load, it was 4 or 5, WRs included.

Which bears the question: "Why would a top RB ever want to play in his offense?"

Because Meyer's offense is run oriented, and he should have Ohio State competing for national titles more often than not.

He may not rack up 1500 yards per season but his yards per carry should be pretty good.

College stats aren't that important to NFL scouts.

It may be, but it is a QB run oriented offense. It is not an offense that a top notch RB wants to play in, because the RB takes a 3rd row seat behind the QB and slot WRs.

His backs don't even rack up 1,000 yards. What makes anyone think that a RB in his offense would ever get 1,500 yards?

YPC is not what gets you to the next level.

Of all his offensive players the only WR/RB that is making any noise in the NFL is Harvin. On the field that is.

Which means exactly what for Ohio State football?

I'm finally beginning to foster some good old fashioned hatred for Meyer, but you can't deny he's a great coach.

Did I say anything about his coaching? I was following the idea that his players are good in his system. Just doesn't translate to the NFL.

Demps, Rainey, Moody.

Moody would have been a 1,000 yard rusher on any other team. He almost had 500 at USC as a true freshman, but he left because he was in a stable of 10 highly-touted recruits at RB. I don't know why he chose UF, but he didn't really have a chance to show off his rushing ability. Any other SEC school had him at 1,000 yards.

Meyer was still enamored with his track team in Demps and Rainey. I think that those guys would have been 1,000 yard rushers on any other team that required them to be work-horsed.

Meyer had the convenience of running his super-crazy spread with fresh (fast) legs every play. Part of his "genius" was putting in these sprinters every other play to keep defenses guessing.

Percy was our feature back, but in addition to taking handoffs he operated out of the wildcat, caught swing passes, and ran jet sweeps and reverses.

He's a spineless man who supported criminals at Florida for years and blindly watch young men ruin their lives so he could win some games

Damn, a 1,000+ yard rusher is just the thing Meyer was missing in his search for undefeated seasons and national championships. If only he had one of those dudes.
