I could find a place quite nice too if someone dumped a bucket of cash at my feet. Lol, does sound like he was unsure if the sewer was nice or not.

Sounds familiar doesn't it. Its all about the money for most coaches... meyer's no different. They'll all tell you a bucket full of lies to throw you off course or get you out of their hair. Notre dame can basically pay him whatever he wants, wouldn't surprise me at all if he hightales it out of here in the next couple of years. No tebow and the sec is going to be tougher for meyer anyway in a couple of years. Oh he is a catholic from the midwest if that means anything.

Thats a possibility. Jerry jones has a lot of money and if you buy one of his suites he'll sell you a 90 dollar pizza. Maybe a 66 dollar six pack. Then i heard what he wants for the suite itself and at 800k i'd say those people probably wouldn't really give a crap about paying a measily 15O bucks for a six pack and a pizza. That is crazy.

"I think human beings are driven for peace of mind. As a coach, what's your peace of mind? I've got peace of mind. This is my dream job. Three years ago, I couldn't say that. When I came here, I talked about how great Gainesville was, but I didn't know. Now, oh my God. Now, I can say, wow. I love Gainesville now."

Florida's Urban Meyer: 'This is it' | GatorSports.com | The Gainesville Sun | Gainesville, FL

:shaking2:

Yet he said ND was his dream job just a few months ago...

Yeah, they will DEFINATELY come calling. However, I think that Urban is smart enough to have observed that he is better off staying in college. (Pete Carroll, Nick Saban, Petrino, etc) You can't play God in the NFL. His ego must be stroked, whether by UF or ND, we shall see.

Seriously 2 itybits; what did you expect him to say the day after temporarily becoming the highest paid coach in the SEC …….. “Common Jerry Jones, get me out of this $hithole called Gainesville!”

Denial is a defense mechanism in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence.

A contented Urban Meyer just too much for rivals to handle.

Could it possibly be that no one around here gives two dead flies what the Urban Cowboy says or feels about where he lives?

We will see how content he is when Jerry Jones comes a calling.

PS: I don't really care about Corch Meyer. I am just happy Tebow will be leaving.

Judging by the 3 different threads about Urban Meyer in this forum, I would have to say yes- I do believe that people here give 2 dead flies about him.

There are also a few about Ole Miss, a couple about KY, and a couple about Miss State. I guess that means that we are obsessed with them.

I didn't say anyone was obsessed now did I? He said no one gives 2 dead flies about CUM, the threads say otherwise. No obsession, but far from not giving 2 dead flies.

Are you obsessed with me Dad? You seem to enjoy exchanges with me.

You are growing on me. I think there might actually be a rival fan worthy of intelligent exchange underneath the verbose, obnoxious exterior. I get glimpses of it from time to time.

Eh, a content Urban Meyer doesn't really bother me at all. Go look at the history of your top 20 or 30 or however many college coaches, historically; by and large they do the vast majority of their winning in the first few years of their tenure. I would much rather you guys keep Meyer for the next 20 years than to keep going out every few years and finding the next hungry young guy.

You guys have such an enormous demographic advantage over the rest of the conference that, given good coaching, you're just about guaranteed to be in the upper tier of the conference every year. The most likely way for you to get less than great coaching is to have some aging guy get lifetime tenure because of what he won ten years ago. The next few years will be tough, of course, but after that I'm looking forward to the back half of Urban Meyer's career.

I mean, think about Spurrier. I knew Alligators who were almost relieved when he left because they thought he'd lost his edge, and it was never going to be the same again. Imagine if he'd never left, and it's almost 10 years later, and he's still there -- there's no way you could get rid of him. "He built this program! He won the Heisman!" Look what we just went through to get rid of Fulmer, and he sucked even when he was good.

IMO, you guys are better off if Meyer stays a few more years and then bolts for the NFL or ND than if he decides to retire in Gainesville. Because 10 or 12 years from now you'll be sitting there wondering how the hell to get rid of him. Coaches have a shorter shelf life than you'd think they do.

The sad thing is after you pay the 800 K for the suite, you still have to buy the tickets for the game.

I love the 'enormous demographic advantage' excuse. there are two other all-time top 15 programs in our state. you might as well cut the florida into thirds. and each cut would be considerably smaller than, say, the state of tennessee. a solid number of recruits also come from out of state. and many recruits in florida, believe it or not, go to school out of state. what's next- floridas high amounts of sunshine coupled with steady summer rain is the reason florida hs kids are great at football and thats unfair to the rest of the SEC?

Very good take and I agree with you. Many think Spurrier began to lose his edge toward the end of his time at Florida and many Gator fans had unreasonable expectations that he should win the SEC every year. He set his own bar a bit high with his early success but I do think the league started to catch up with him.

I really do not see Meyer as the lifetime guy and fans certainly do not want to see their coach slip in the manner that Bowden has. I mentioned in another thread that 5 more years is about what I expect from him. He will still be in his 40's and will have plenty of time to test the NFL waters. Until then I'll just enjoy the ride because in colllege football, particularly the SEC, there is no way to stay at the very top of the heap.
