"I liked the passion," Meyer said after pausing several times to compose himself. "I haven't seen that a lot out of our team. You'll never hear me say I'm proud of the team, because I'm not when they lose. But I see guys that I've never seen actually act like they like to put on a Gator football helmet. If there's a little thing you can take out of this, I think we toughened up a little bit."

I was proud to not see those boys fold their tents like @ Bama when LSU went up early. Just hated to see a good Defensive and Special Teams effort wasted like that.

Not trying to be a smarta$$ but wouldn't you say the same about LSU?

Giving up a lead, turning the ball over 5 times but staying tough and holding onto the lead?

I saw that last night online at ESPN and wanted to throw the computer out the window. He can be happy about passion all he wants. But passion plus no talent = crappy football team.

I appreciate his loyalty to the present bunch of Gator offensive linemen. But, I've been a fan of the team for 23 years and the reality is that individual players come and go. Fans want a long-term winning program. Not passion from weak football players.

I'll cut him some slack to publicly stand behind the current roster but fully expect that he will, in private, be flying all over the country recruiting some MUCH better football players.

I said it on herer earlier today and will say it again: that offense will not work with the talent UF traditionally gets. On offense we need strength and size right now more than we need speed. Spread option depends on the run and we have not been a threat to do that since Earnest Graham.

So, if Urban were here right now I'd say go ahead and play to the crowd on moral victories. Now get your ass on the plane to Nebraska and in two years the O-line needs to be averaging 315, not 275.

Do you really think UF is that down as far as talent goes? My understanding was that the talent was there but zook was screwing everything up.

Its not that they don't have talent at all, its that they don't have the right talent to run this offense. To run any option, UM's spread version or otherwise, two key ingredients are a running QB and a beefy and strong offensive line that can push the defensive linemen back a yard or so, or at least manhandle them into certain slot positions so that the QB can correctly read the coverage of the run and decide whether to pitch or not.

If you watch UF, every time they try the option, Leak is tossing the ball to the back virtually instantaneously because he is not willing to run into the line and also because he keeps reading the linebackers as keying on him. Corners keep nailing the running back shortly after the toss because they have no responsibility to go after Leak.

When its a passing play, the problem is that the line is quickly overwhelmed by much bigger and stronger defensive linemen. Leak has a very good arm and is accurate IF he has time. But when he is running for his life within a second of the snap, he has no chance to set his feet or wait on the speedy receivers to get to where they are supposed to be.

The real problem for this offense is, IMHO, clearly the lack of size and strength on the offensive line. Fix those problems, get us a running QB, and keep recruiting the sprinters to play WR and UF will be just fine. I have high hopes for UM to do that in the future. But right now its ugly.
