Current analyst, former coach and human debris Urban Meyer feels the Vols are in.

“Including Georgia, Ohio State and the Wolverines, Tennessee’s got the easiest path,” Meyer said. “They don’t have to play a championship game, they’re in. I think it’s the easiest scenario because they don’t have to play a ranked team.”

Yeah, we faced our murderer’s row in October. It’s why our SoS is so solid. Now we feast on some cupcakes for style points to finish out the season.

Technically Georgia. They lose the SECcg and they are still in.

I'm not certain of that. Committee made it pretty clear in their first rankings release that if TN beat them, GA would be out of contention. If LSU somehow puts a beating on them, and it's tight across the rest of the country (USC, TCU, etc). I can see committee dropping GA to 5th. Their best win is against us, otherwise their metrics aren't really eye popping.

We definitely have the best SoS of the top 5-6 teams, but overall we got kind of lucky that another school doesn't have a comparable resume because of how things shook out this year. UGA's SoS is particularly weak this year in large part because Auburn is so bad (their crossover opponent). That normally is a solid team for them to play. Ohio St's wins over Notre Dame and Wisconsin would normally be good wins, but both squads are having down years. TCU's wins over Big 12 powers Oklahoma and Texas are not as impressive this year as they usually would be. Michigan's schedule still looks weak regardless; they haven't played any perennial powers so far except Penn St.

We like to say "5 ranked wins" but the Pitt, Florida, and Kentucky wins are honestly nothing to write home about now. Our best win this year, unexpectedly, is actually LSU. It's been great for us that they've rebounded as the season continued. We have 2 really solid wins, which is more than any other team, but it isn't great on an absolute basis. Fortunately they judge the teams relative to each other.

I agree with him. Mostly because in the first 1/3 of the schedule alone, we faced a tougher slate than most teams in the country. But yeah, it’s easy now. Wasn’t so easy in September/October.

We handle SC and Vandy like we did Mizzou and I see a rematch with GA in cfp on the horizon.

That's it, that's all you needed to post.

The rest takes care of itself.

If peeps here managed their investments with the same vigor they've concerned themselves with playoff implications we would all be on a warm, sunny beach somewhere fishing maybe.
