Uros a 3-point sharpshooter?

The guy needs to check his stats. Uros made exactly one 3-pointer in his career at UT.

Good for him. Pulling for good things to come his way. Honestly, I'm more interested in his success than our recent one and done types. I just can't consider guys like Phillips, Springer, Keon, etc as VFL's that I care about. Those types just don't resonate with me as a fan. Maybe it's an OG sentiment.

Why did Grant and now Uros only start pulling the trigger on the 3 once they left UT??
Because of the way they were needed/used in college. Grant would not have the contract now in the NBA if he didn’t adapt and develop a 3 point shot. The NBA is all about stretching the floor to create better spacing. In college however he could shoot over people much easier and didn’t necessarily need the 3. Would’ve been nice but not mandatory to have like the NBA.

Good points. Just wish they could've been used more effectively shooting the trail 3 ala Wayne Chism while they were here.

Springer and Keon were here during a weird time with Covid and I know for sure Keon comes back to UT regularly. I think Springer does too. If they’re coming around and associating with the program they feel invested here. To me, anyone who plays here is a VFL but no doubt we all have our favorites.

It's more a case of developing an attachment to a player over a period of time. I guess it's because I saw a time before free agency in sports so my teams had the same faces year after year. You really got invested in players back then. Now is a different time to be sure, but any player that's here for 1 season and it's a freshman year at that, just doesn't allow for that tie in. No ill will toward them and no blame either. Just can't get into their careers after UT because they're more of a "rental" player than VFL to me.

Right, you are not allowed to use a low post game in the NBA unless you are a superstar like AD, Embiid, or Jokic. All of the other bigs either become rim-running pick and roll guys or become large wings, like Grant.

And that all makes sense. It’s certainly a different world now and you just don’t see players sticking as much as they used to just like employees in the business world.

I would like to see Uros make the Hawks roster and give them some more length and physicality and he would be a solid back up to Capela.

That would free up Okongwu to switch over to the power forward position and be an option to replace Collins who was traded to Utah.

Last week in Vegas I spoke to Grant about the trade -and gave some Big Orange props to Uros and Philips when I bumped into the at the Wynn. Saw Dr J, Joe Dumars, and a host of others. If you are a hoops fan - the summer league and surrounding activities give plenty of opportunity to connect. All three Vols were gracious and grateful.
