ahmadinejad never said he wanted to wipe Israel off the map. he said " the Zionist regime(rezhim) will pass away, just as the soviet regime fell in Russia" that was the actual quote he used.. he never said anything about nuking Israel. dont believe everything cnn or fox news tells you dude

and in the same speech he also said " the human and civil rights of jews, christians, and muslims must be respected" but im sure the mainstream media didnt report that part of it.

How does the US navy stack up against Iran? I know we are stronger, but I was reading about a Russian ship busting cruise missile the Iranians have that could neutralize our naval advantage and turn carriers into "floating coffins". Old news I'm sure - but any Navy experts have any idea how serious this threat is and how we would counter it in a potential conflict with Iran?

Naval battle is not what comes in to play in the Hormuz. Iran has significant fire power from shore to shut down the strait. Catching a Carrier moving through the Strait is about as impressive as you standing at the dock in Norfolk taking pictures of one.

If they can get that close and inside the defensive ring of a Carrier fleet out in the Indian Ocean I would be concerned. If anything it shows how little we are concerned by moving the Carrier through there.

And picking a fight? The Stennis was scheduled to move out of the IOR at that time. A schedule in place months ago. When we pick a fight you will know it.

Considering everything I keep reading and hearing from POTUS/admin peeps and various Congresscritters, I have a bad feeling you might be right. Their tame lapdogs in the media seem to be exercising a fair amount of yellow journalism about Iran lately...
