As someone who has to give and receive PowerPoint presentations on a weekly basis I can understand how completely worthless it can be when someone doesn't know what he/she is doing.

he's spot on. arguing a 20 page powerpoint presentation can get someone up to speed on a situation this complicated is ridiculous. either allow the good people under you to do what they think is right or get out of the war business.

on a side note, the picture of Afghan Army troops in formation, surrounded by the rusting hulks of Soviet Armor, is kind of spooky.

McMaster made sense, but, it sounds like to me people are either trying to use powerpoint for what it is not intended...or they have no idea how to use it effectively. That first slide is horrendous, and anybody that knows how and for what purpose powerpoint should be used would have never made it.
