NCAA tournament bracketology: Kentucky, Maryland fall in March Madness

"Tennessee, meanwhile, is making a strong case to enter the projected field after another significant win. The Volunteers (17-13, 69 NET score) beat Florida at home over the weekend but Tuesday provided a much-needed Quadrant 1 victory. It's still not enough to put Tennessee in today, but they're now one of the "last four out" and could improve its chances with a strong run in the SEC tournament."

I think an Auburn win and 1 SECT win would do it, even if they lost the next game to LSU or KY.

I agree. FL, KY, AUB wins and one SECT win, gets us to 19 wins and good Q1 wins over the past few weeks...If we won those games early and lost them late, it would have less positive impact. Regardless, going into the season, even with Turner, I thought we'd be in the 15-17 win threshold...losing turner, and now with JJJ coming on, it seems that everyone is finally figuring out their roles on the team. Whether we make it in or not, the team's showed some real fight, and should help us going into next year.

The Kentucky game move the net rating from 69 to 57 so you would think a win versus Auburn would at least get you to 50 then of course have to win against the lower ranked in SEC tourney and get to the higher ranked teams to prevent falling.

I wouldn't have thought with the SEC down that our SOS would be 8.10.....should help playing Auburn...Barnes 1st year was toughest at 7.86

The crowd is going to be nuts Saturday and they will want revenge after that blown game at Auburn. Should be a fun one.
I'm liking our chances more and more on this game...which, a week ago, before the UF game, wouldn't have really thought we'd give them much of a game.

Now that this team has been able to get playing time with the current rotation, and given the fact that they beat a hard charging Fla team then a top 10 Ky team at Rupp, why wouldn't they consider themselves (and be considered by everyone else) as a legitimate top contender for the SEC tournament champs? I know it's not always about who's the best team, but who in the conference is playing better than our guys right now? Why wouldn't anyone think that they have just as good of a chance as anyone to take it all? Bad match-ups with some of the teams maybe? I'm focusing on tournament time and not a month ago, and looking for informative feedback.

I think depth would be the biggest reason. The last two games the starters have played the bulk of the minutes.

I say Auburn and at least 2 wins to get in the tourney. 3 wins in the SECT and 100% sure we are in. 2 wins in the SECT and we are on the bubble and have to hope their aren't upsets in other conference tourneys.

If we could get an Auburn win and LSU rematch in the tournament. I like our chances, we were in that first game with Vescovi here just a couple of days. I hope Bowden has been saving everything for a last chance tournament run. That would be great.

We're not going to get the 1st round byes, so much tougher to win 3 games in a row.

Auburn win puts us back in the NCAA Tourney. Staying in will depend on SEC tourney.

Arkansas possibly. Tough group to guard if the officials allow the numerous walks and push offs. Jones reminded me of Chris Lofton with some of his long contested 3’s

Honestly I don’t think we are in the NIT yet either.
I don’t think we get in it if we lose the next 2

They looked unstoppable between Isaiah Joe and Mason Jones. Then again, Mason Jones had a career night when they played us. Will they be able to keep it up? When Joe went down, they were really terrible. Both have to be at their best.

They lost at Georgia on Saturday

They are a tough out for sure if they’re shooting like they did against us and the refs turn a blind eye to the walks and push offs
