UF is pursuing a lot of the same players that UT is pursuing, but no one team will have a bigger impact than USC in terms of the potential to beat Kiffin to our favorite players. We are looking for several Cali guys here...From an article today:

Pete Carroll and his Trojans are in the hunt with so many elite players from all over the country. They may not be the leader in many of these cases, but you just can't dismiss Carroll and his program when they are involved. So be very aware of USC with running back Lache Seastrunk, wide receivers Chris Dunkley, Darius White and Christian Green, tight end Christian Thomas, offensive linemen Seantrel Henderson and Chaz Green, defensive linemen Jackson Jeffcoat, Ronald Powell, Ricky Heimuli, George Uko and Floyd, linebacker Jordan Hicks, Jeff Luc, Christian Jones and Josh Shirley, and defensive backs Dietrich Riley, Anthony Jefferson, Josh Shaw and Demetrius Wright and athlete Marquis Flowers. You just never know with USC.

Newberg.
8-9 of those are guys we want badly.

there will be a lot of TN vs USC and TN vs Fla battles for a loooooong time....TN/USC are carbon copies of each other and evaluate talent the same. If TN offers you better believe USC will start looking at that player and vice versa..

We all know the Fla reasons..incredible speed and talent...how do you become USC but better? You get the best players from FLA, GA, AL...Pro style team with elite strength and speed

I agree completely with this. We are trying to beat USC out also for lots of guys on that list who are from Cali which is tough to do. The reason why we had to smoke UGA this year is that we need that GA talent and USC has never needed to get that. We need a Jeff Whittaker type guy because Uko eliminated us and will stay closer to home.

Josh Shirley, Shaw, Riley
even guys who already said no like Powell, Scroggins and Uko, we did everything we could and we did everything right.

Another way you get better than USC is when you have equivalent talent you do not lose to Washington.

I think Pete Carroll is not nearly the defensive coach Monte Kiffin is.

Florida and USC will battle it out for the top spot with Texas as well. Florida looks really good for Powell and Hicks. It also seems like Sharrif Floyd is leaning to us. If we land 2 of those 3 5-stars then we will be good.

Actually Floyd is most likely leaning to OSU after his visit. He shut down all his visits and UF most likely wont be able to make an in home before he announces. Look for Floyd to OSU unless UF can pull off something right at the end.

It wouldn't surprise me if Floyd went to OSU but I still think we have a very good chance. I also think Floyd will make 1 or 2 more visits, but it may be tough with his high school football games.

BS. He isn't taking any more visits until after the playoffs. Florida has as good of a chance as OSU -- probably better. I'd rather see him go to OSU, but what you're saying is just inaccurate.

We shall see...:good!: I will trust the info our insiders get from Ronald Powell, who has become good friends with Floyd during the process...over whatever you are "hearing"...

That is assuming that UT is not able to sway guys like G Smith to change schools, that Luc and Dyer and Ahmad Dixon do not all end up in Knoxville etc.

Look at who UT is still in the mix for...it is absurd. There is a reason why everyone is saying we are still in play for #1 class and it is remarkable to say that about a 3-4 football team. When we have equal talent to UF, I truly expect us to win again with regularity.

Florida is in with many big name players as well. It goes both ways. And what you are doing isn't that surprising. We had some very good classes when Ron Zook was our coach even though he had a bunch of 5 loss seasons. Good programs will recruit well. Tennessee has a very good program.

As for you beating us with regularity----well let's just say I expect it to get to 6 wins in a row next year. :)

Ole Zooker set Meyer up well, when he left.

When I said that Pete Carroll was sucking it up on defense lots of people jumped to his defense. Where are they tonight?

I think we may be helped with Shirley and Riley and the few defensive guys still considering us. Uko and Powell are both guys who said we are out of it, so they can go to a defense where 5 star talent gives 3 star results. Monte Kiffin is taking 3 star talent and having 5 star results. When he is actually stocked with the guys our staff will bring him our defense will be downright nasty, like multiple shutouts nasty.

Jeff Luc, and Christian Jones would be awsome in Monte's D. Really Monte has been working with a patch work LB core all season. D. Dorsey would be a great addition to our DBs as he can play either safety or CB, and hurt UF in the ranking at the same time.

If CLK closed with that group plus three of the o-linemen we are after I would be happy and not worry about the #1 ranking.

Yep, remember the Nebraska nasty defense he had when he was there. The man is a defense Guru. Just look at what he's done in 8 games with these guys. The thing is he knows "who" fits his system. If he gets the recruits he wants then gee, look out. My philosophy has been that if your offense can score 28 points then you should win. I base that off a good D can hold an opponent to under 23 points. Our D is already doing that. When we get the new guys coming in over the next couple years it will be almost impossible for anyone to stop us. Just think how many NC we would've had if Monte had been here in the 90's with Peyton. An Lane is proving to be one heck of a coach also. The plays that Chaney and Lane scheme are driving the other coaches nuts.
