Wrong. The 'AA allowed them to postpone their exemption penalty to 2011. Aloha, Tojans. Too bad for the Kiffin lynch mob. You might want to get used to this. There are going to be a number of rulings coming in the next few months you aren't going to like.

You may have a future in writing horoscopes writing vague, open to interpretation posts such as this.

The only reason they are allowing the game is because Hawaii needs money. This game will bring big money into the program and state as a whole. Honestly I have no problem with it.

I wish the Vols would get them back on the schedule. I'd be there quicker than a Lane Kiffin coaching tenure

I think it depends on how you define successful. My guess is that the bowl ban will be scaled back to one year and they'll get a couple of scholarships a year back. I find it hard to beleive the PAC 10 won't be doing some serious backchannel lobbying for SC. With Texas and Oklahoma staying put, that league desperately needs a healthy and vibrant Southern Cal. I read the report the other day. While I understand administrative bodies have different standards of proof than the judiciary, the 'AA's findings as to imputed institustional knowledge of the Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo situations would be laughed out of a courtroom.

Yep, I'm not convinced that the staff knew the details of what was going on with Bush. And I'm still undecided about taking away his Heisman.

If USC wins an appeal it will be an upset. None of the big cases have won an appeal since the rules changed a couple of years back. I'm not saying they won't, but it would surprise me.

What? The NCAA is not going to immediately overturn the punishment they came up with after a multi year investigation?

Nobody's really gotten hammered since they changed the standards for appeals. Vacating wins is one thing. Keeping a team out of postseason play and shortening their roster is a different animal.

The point of the article was that the standards for winning an appeal have changed; it has become much harder to win.

USC will argue that they received stiffer penalties than Bama did...that doesn't appear to be enough to win an appeal anymore. On top of that, the NCAA pulled the "Repeat Offender" card, so making the penalties marginally tougher is not entirely unreasonable.

We will wait and see, but I find it unlikely that much will change.

I simply can't cheer on the NCAA. Their whole operation is hypocritical and ridiculous. I feel like if I take pleasure in seeing them punish a school, I am conceding some sort of credibility to them or implying that they are somehow "just."
