You folks are going to wonder why this thread was started.

With all the talk of the Matt Barkley kid 99.5% committed to USC and our chances to convince him to come here not very good, I felt it was time to look into the USC Trojans QB depth chart and dissect each and every one to see if Barkley has a realistic chance of starting for them soon.

So without further ado, here's the QB depth chart.

Starting QB-MARK SANCHEZ
Backups
Mitch Mustain (So.) (Ark transfer)
Garrett Green (Jr)
Aaron Corp (RSFr)
John Manoogian (Fr)
Chris McCaffery (Fr)

This is the only way The Kiff has a chance to convince the Barkley kid to come, show him this depth chart.

Unless Sanchez is NFL ready, expect him to comeback next season. Mustain is eager to have a chance to start after Sanchez leaves.

I now open this thread for discussion.

Not saying it's this kid, but we've got to have somebody lined up to tell Boyd to take a hike

well obviously Barkley will probably have to wait about 2 years to play...but the other backups are great and highly thought of by the USC coaches, Im sure...Aaron Corb was a highly touted 5 star prospect, his time will be soon...Green a great mobile QB will be a career backup despite his talent (like Cassel)...Barkley would come and be at best the 4th QB on the roster- they have three of the top three QBs of their respective classes (Sanchez was top rated QB, Mustain was top rated QB, Corp was a top 3 QB- all were 5 star prospects)- USC is loaded at the QB position... its improbable but Barkley would stand to gain some things if he came to UT- but it probably wont happen

You are Coach Kiff. You are trying to pull the impossible by convincing this kid to change your commitment from USC to UT. What must you do in a visit in order to make this happen? (include every possible way without commiting a recruiting violation).

GOOD LUCK

I don't think it may help our chances with Sarkisian to Washington.

Mustain is 4th on the depth chart if I recall correctly. Also, if the kid is as good as advertised then he has just as good a shot to start as any of those guys. Sanchez likely stays so he has to redshirt his first year unless an injury occurs. He doesn't seem like he's scared of competition. Again, we have about a 1% chance here.

I'd start with having the marching band open the T for him to run through. Wait, that's a recruiting violation. Maybe a new car or a beach house...recruiting violation, recruiting violation. Without referencing some Blue Chips recruiting violations as well, I'm fresh out of ideas. I honestly think that the best promise Kiffin could make is that he'd be listed as a co-starter on the depth chart from day one, but he's already publicly stated that that's already the case.

I think he did

He played part of it.

There is more to convince someone to change your commitment from one school to another at the "last minute". You may have to use the "throwing under the bus" mentality.

Let's put it altogether.

Good start but we are talking about a top to bottom visit.

Everybody would have a fair shake under Kiff, including him. He would be using "no one is the starter" approach.

Tell Barkley that he has a chance to break Mannings UT records and if that doesn't work, tell him that the large population of Southern Baptists will guarantee him a seat next to the big guy in the afterlife.

i dont think its an officiall visit but he might be coming to town on his own dime....or someone elses haha but who knows maybe we do have a shot. im sure kiffin knows what tell tell them california boys that if he wants to play in the nfl he would have a better chance at standing out and getting some real playing time here in tennessee and going up against SEC foes...not UCSand all the rest conference....

BARKLEY IF YOUR READING THIS COME TO KNOXVEGAS!!:rock2::rock2::the_finger::the_finger:
