I didn’t see it but after being a giant killer two weeks in a row and keeping two powerhouse teams out of the playoffs, he has earned the right to talk a little smack.

I just read Volnation so all the smack talk (and there is a lot of it) I read here against every team we play against and most of the teams we don’t even play.

In any event, his team smashed us, so he can talk if he wants. That's the thing about these annual match ups, you get to talk for a year, and the losing team can come back the next season and make it hurt. It's one of the fun things about sports.

Going into this season, that game in Columbia was one I circled as one that would be difficult to win. A lot of Vol fans gave me pushback, but I knew that the gap between these teams in terms of talent and depth wasn’t enough to safely mark it down as a win. Not that I’m smarter than anyone on here or anything, I’ve just seen this song and dance before. Unfortunately, I was right and USCjr played their best game of the season against us.

But guess what? Carolina, as a program, is still sorry. They’re still trash. They’re still junk. Two top 10 wins and they’re going to be playing in the Outback Bowl. So now, South Carolina fans are going to mark Tennessee down as a W going into next season because of their fluke win over us, even though they’ve only won at Neyland 3 times ever. But that isn’t going to happen. We’re going to run them off the field just like we did in 2021 and when 2024 rolls around, we’ll have a team with much better depth that can win in Columbia.

One season does not make a program. Unfortunately, UT currently sits right alongside USCe, in terms of accomplishments over the lifetimes of the current players.

Over the last 20 years (2002-21), South Carolina compiled 138 total wins. Tennessee 137.

The Vols lead the last 20 games in the series 11-9.

Over the same span, USCe has won 11 games 3 times. The Vols currently sit at 0.

Over the same period, the Vols have won 9 or more games in a season prior to this 6 times to the Cocks 5.

As painful as it is to admit, kids these days probably don't see much difference between the two programs outside of ancient history.
