He is one of only two assistants ever fired by Richt .... Thus his inclusion on the greatest coaching staff in America.

I hate to say this, but defense is done......Is Jancek the man????

come on son, it's hard to beat a team that has a quarterback pretty much faster and quicker than the entire defense. in time we will know more about jancek but let em coach em up and see if they can get some speed before throwing the jury in.

Saban couldnt have gotten this defense even top 50. Apparently people forget Saban's first year at Ala. They were aweful and alot of those players didnt buy in or talented enough to play in the SEC. They were 7-6 his first yr at Ala. And they were in better shape than our slow a$$ D. Oh and how about one of the best D Coordinators in Monte Kiffin and what he gave up to AU, OleMiss, and a few others that ran the spread. We have to get depth and speed that Dooley forgot to recruit. Damn...

I understand the defense is slow, no question. What I don't understand is the terrible angles these guys continue to take game after game play after play.

Vandy will beat us. UK will be close but I will say we beat them.

You're not a guru if you're right...you don't have to eat crow if you're wrong.

This is a football team finding its way. Good lord, the melodrama is getting ridiculous.

We arent losing to Vandy in Neyland or 2 yrs in a row and UK wont be close.

We will have to play our best game if the year to beat Vandy. If we had Worley back I would be more confident, but as if right now Josh Dobbs is one dimensional. If we beat Vandy we will have to do it running the ball, and with short 3-5 yard passes. Josh just isn't accurate from 10 yards out. We are going to have to do to Vandy what Auburn just did to us. Beat us handily on the ground.
Vandy just put up 34 on a much better defense, at the swamp, which is much harder to win at than Neyland has become.
I just hope our guys stop talking out of their arse, and actually do their talking with their physicality.

Vandy is in A better "place" mentally after whipping UGA & FLA...

Meanwhile we are in desperate times to attempt to make a bowl.

We beat KY, though...

yeah...

Saban took over an absolute tire fire at Alabama his first year. By the end if his first year you could see great improvement, unlike what Butch has done here. I think I recall that in Saban's first year he brought a bad team into Neyland and beat the hell out of a 10-4 UT team that played for the SEC Championship..... 41-14.

The idea that he wouldn't have done a much better job with this defense is ludicrous. No doubt in my mind that Saban wins 7 or 8, maybe 9 games easily with the same exact team that Butch is about to win 4 with. He's the top collegiate football coach in the country, a hall of famer and a much, much better coach than Butch is and more than likely ever will be.

and we hired the other one too:hi:

Baha sure did. I don't wanna say that this has all been on them but id say they could be on the shortest leash at this point.

I still have hope that once they get more talent in there they will be able to put a solid D together. I don't believe Jancek and Martinez were given much to work with all those years at Georgia either.

Plus Richt had to lose someone... and everyone knows he wont fire dear old Bobo:birgits_giggle:

Butch Jones needs to bring Chavis back and do this right. I believe Chief would come back after a few years of good recruiting. Give Jancek one more year thats it.

Yeah fitting that he beat UT. It was 41-17 in Neyland. He went 6-6 in the regular season after starting 3-0. Won the Independence bowl to go 7-6. We were his signature win though. Butch needs to win out. Ferguson needs to practice like a starter this week. Competition needs to be open at every position during the bye week. Pull out all stops, no execuses. Just win.

Saban was also 6-6 and lost to ULM. I would say Carolina this year is better than we were also. So your point is?

If memory serves, Bama lost the last 4 games of the season that year, including a loss to La-Monroe. That is the opposite of the "great improvement all season" argument you are attempting to make.
