Hopefully USF will be successful with Golesh. It’s surprising that program hasn’t been better given the amount of instate talent.

They've just always been a little brother to UF/FSU/UM, and now their fellow mid-major UCF has a leg up on them. They've only had a team since 1997, and have only been in D1 since 2001.

I guess they should be more competitive within their league though.

Really hate that Bama goes to USF (WTF?) before they play us. That’s pretty much a warm up for us . Best of luck to Golesh though. Would love for him to be hugely successful and then comeback to UT as the head guy someday .

Looks like Alabama scheduled a three game series with USF. One in Tampa for two in Tuscaloosa in 2024 and 2026. Very odd.

I guess they get to showcase their school at an NFL stadium in a state that has a lot of talent. I’m guessing the Tide fans will turn out for that one too. Kind of a win win. Go party all week and then go watch your team throttle someone.

Was USF formally the University of Tampa? Seems like we played Tampa in the late 1960’s in the sombrero IIRC.

University of Tampa is a pretty small private school. If they even have a football team, it would probably be D2 at best.
Lived down there for a few years and don't ever recall seeing a football score on the news there.

Edit-at least per wiki they stopped playing football in 1974. UT apparently opened the stadium by beating the University of Tampa in 1967. Learn something new every day I guess.

I forgot USF hadn’t been around that long. You’re right that the rise of UCF hurts USF.
