Has anyone noticed that UT won't have any players next year?

We have 16 on the roster now, including 6 Sr's. If Hopson and Harris leave early, that leaves 8.

Among the 8 are Summit and Woolridge.

We have 2 committed recruits - both guards, and none of the uncommitted top 150 are seriously considering UT.

Any recommendations?

As of right now, we will have at least 9 scholarship players if Hopson/Harris go pro. I think Golden will be moved to his natural position of shooting guard. He and Jones could form a lethal combo. I don't see the 2011-2012 team making the NCAA tournament, but I do see a solid squad in 2012-2013, especially if we land Stokes.

Hall
Maymon/Woolridge
McRae/Ware
Golden/Tatum
Jones/McBee

We need another power forward and center, which we should be able to get in the JUCO ranks and with the prep Center from Nigeria whose last name starts with an A. We probably have to be careful about how many scholarships we give out this year because the 2012 class is loaded and we will only lose 2 players (Tatum/Woolridge) after the 2011-2012 season, so not many scholarships will be available especially if we lose 1 scholarship due to the pending NCAA violations. On the other hand, we may show Woolridge the door after this year and just allow him to finish up at Tennessee academically, which would open the door for one more scholarship. Look for a hardship transfer or 5th year player like Fields. We need big men desparately.

We're going to lose those 8 this year, and things are looking pretty bleak. I don't really expect too much next season. The good thing about basketball is that one good recruiting class can turn things around that same year.

Don't bring this up in the "should we keep Pearl" thread...apparently we'll only be bad if Bruce were to be gone. They tend to ignore that next year could be disasterous!

Hall is a solid player, especially offensively, although he has got to stop taking the ball to the floor when he get's it in the post. He is taking too long to go up with the ball. This should be corrected by this point in his career. If he does that crap against Big East or athletic teams they will block him or strip him. Also, I think Pearl likes playing Hall more than Jones does, so it was just a matter of time of Bruce got back before Hall was reinserted in the rotation.

Chris Jones and Trey Golden will allow us to press more next season. Add in McRae and Ware, then we can be a really good pressing team. Hall is pretty quick for a big man so he can protect our basket while 3-4 guys are pressing. Also, I expect Tatum to play better next season, but he will not be a star that scores more than 15 points or a consistent leader. He doesn't have the overall talent or leadership ability. Hopefully he can help McRae and Ware adopt, so they can be our leaders in the near future.

I would disagree at this point. If Pearl is allowed to coach and they go to the controlled chaos style this team will surprise a lot of people and have a pretty decent year. The key is that we sign a post player and another power forward which I think we will.

Golden doesn't shoot well enough to be a two guard. He has displayed good vision at times, but needs to work on that jumper.

I can see Hopson going but not Harris. If Pearl is gone than I can see both going. Just imagine if Pearl is gone and we lose Ware and Jones too.
