UT 3PM News Conference

It is to announce that Randy Sanders has resigned from the OC position (but not from the staff). There has been rampant speculation that other announcements would be made then as well, but all the sources have differing information.

The RS stuff is very solid from MANY sources.

Here's the skinny on the team meeting at 2 and the following press conference.

The meeting is to inform the players that Randy Sanders has offered his resignation as offensive coordinator. He will remain on staff in some capacity, perhaps QB coach or RB coach, as Trooper is expected to move to WR or interim OC. Also, Jimmy Ray Stephens and Pat Washington have been fired. Among the names being mentioned on the short list for new OC are David Cutcliffe (pending doctors' approval) and Daryl Dickey (QB coach at Florida State and former Vol)

Fulmer will also be calling the plays and running the offense this weekend at Notre Dame.

Vol Insider :ninja:

"Fulmer will also be calling the plays and running the offense this weekend at Notre Dame."

In that case, don't expect us to quit running it right up the middle on 3rd and long.

I'm "ALl Vol" and hate to see anyone in the UT family hurt, but RS had to go. I know our record is not entirely his fault, but a good starting point. Go Vols.

Expect a few more running plays up the middle and off-tackle. :dunno:

I like the things you guys say about Fulmer calling the plays... are you the same people calling for the days of Majors to be back? CPF was the OC then too.

Hell yeah they rock! The only thing I wish the D would improve on is making those INT's. DB's have done a great job, but it seems like every game we have had at least a couple that should have been picked off fall incomplete. Scary how good they have been and still have room for improvement.

Yes, and for some reason we called it "Johnny ball" then.

hehehe I anticipate Cut will be back sooner than later, myself. We'll find out in an hour. I don't know who came up with 3 PM as the press conference (central maybe? UT is in Knoxville, please ET folks) either way... it is at 4:15 ET.

Press Conference is at 4:!5. They pushed it back so they could have live coverage on the afternoon news shows here in Knoxville.
