What other sports??? Just joking...However, I would be hard pressed to find a Vol fan who has paid for, on multiple occasions, tickets to go see the other Vols teams play. And, family of the athletes competing doesn't count.

A lot of the sports are free to watch, aren't they? Or else just a dollar or two? So I mean, people are watching, just not THAT many and they're not bringing in a substantial amt of money.

Whats weird is Gatlin and Leonard Scott, former UT track (Scott football too) are two of the fastest humans alive and UT track lost money.Actually, I don't know any track teams not operating in the red.

UT has an impressive history of track stars, including Olympians. Former Vols actually brought home four track and field medals in the '04 Olympics. Only three COUNTRIES did better.

It shouldn't surprise that it loses money, though. Being good isn't good enough. It takes fan support, which equals -- you guessed it -- money, money, money, money! I doubt the high-rollers are paying $20K/year for a front-and-center parking spot and season tickets to track. How many people on here have ever paid to watch a meet?
