For some reason this year's Third Saturday in October feels very different this year. It feels like it is uncertain who will win. Alabama should, but it feels like the old games where you really weren't sure who will win, like a true rivalry game should feel and used to feel. For the last 20 years these two school's have been lopsided - and now I think both are competing at the same time for a change. Watching Butch this week, it feels like he is ready for this game and knows he has a shot to win it.
But it's time:

Taking the orange glasses off for a moment...

Winning 1 game over SC, who will finish unranked, doesn't mean we all of a sudden are competing "at the same time" with Alabama. Alabama has allowed what.. 16 points scored against them in the last 5 games. We are not there yet unfortunately.

Putting the orange glasses back on...

We gonna whip dey ass!!!!!

48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. 50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him. 51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.

GO VOLS, BEAT BAMA.

My heart says we have a chance, but my brain says not so much.

If it was a home game I might feel a little different, but AL on the road.........:eek:hmy:

The fact that any of us are even thinking about a win, speaks volumes about how much CBJ has changed things for the better!

Just win 2 more games and its Bowl Time in TN!

Herbstreit was asked which Top 5 teams he thought would be challenged this weekend. He said Bama and Ohio State. He didn't say they would lose, but it would be closer than you think.

So I'm thinking Bama wins by 50. Man, you're right. It may be closer than I think. Something like 30 or 40 is closer than I think.

Glad the game is played on a field and not with computers, pens and paper. If anyone had said Kentucky would keep bammer scoreless through almost a quarter and a half, you all would have said that was just crazy talk. Should we expect a win? Computer says no. But this game is far from certain.

For the first time in four years, my Bama friends have felt the need to call me to tell me that the Tide is gonna whip our @$$...tells me that they are at least noticing us and the possibility of us winning. Butch is bringing us back.

Tenn is doing great but will no beat Ala. this year. Better chance next year. All that think we will beat Ala. is great but do not slam the team or coach when they lose.

Would you like to make a bet? you pick a margin above 45 points and I take a margin below 44. The amount of the wager will be a Fluker ($45,000).

the gamescocks beat Arky by 45 - Bama beat Arky by 45 - The transitive property of football has never let me down, so I say we win by a last second field goal. It's just logic really people.

UT has no pressure on them. Everyone expects them to lose and badly. Look across the field to the other sideline. Its Alabama. Everyone has already put this one in the win column. Especially the fans. I expect them to start slow and tight. Looking ahead to the game against LSU. Not saying we win but we damn sure gain some respect Saturday by keeping it close.

I don't expect the overall outcome to be much different. They have talent backed up for several classes, while we re still 2 or 3 great classes from being comparable.

That said, I expect this squad to go down there and put out the same kind of effort we got out of the 09 team. This team is much better coached than the last 3 disasters we fielded and I don't think this team will lay down like they did. I don't think we are lining up with a chance to kick the game winner like 09, but this game will be closer than the last 3.

I have a couple of questions:

If we win out (which if I am honest I doubt), would we have a chance to play in the National Title game? Or is three losses too much?

Also, if Bama loses, how far do you think they would fall? I would guess to #5 because of their easy schedule so far...

Thanks.

It would take some monumental luck just to win the SEC east with our 3 losses. NC is waaaay out of the question.

Bama would stay in the top 10 at least, but would claim their 47th NC anyway.
