We see how weaker teams (Az State, Florida) and, of course some stronger teams (Ore. Tamu) win games: a running QB.

We are a weaker team. Our QB doesn't run well.

Peterman was put in the UF game to make a change, yet Butch let him run once.

When will it dawn on the UT Athletic Department that there are NFL-caliber throwers who are also mobile (e.g., Taj Boyd)? Hopefully one or both of our Freshmen fit the bill.

Clearly it's Harts fault.

Also, this is a quality thread that involves fresh ideas. Glad a wise old vol created it.

After the one Peterman run did you really need to see anything else? Let's call him lead legs.

It is kind of odd that we haven't had a full time QB with good wheels since basically Tee Martin.

Heck, Id be happy if just had a QB that could make accurate passes and/or a head coach that could tell the difference between bad QB throws and bad WR routes.

Ehhhh . . . That's relatively new though. Leak was semi-mobile and mainly just scrambled to escape. It's really just been Tevow and Brantley.

They had a 2-star QB who came in unexpectedly and ran around UT at will.

This was a game we could have won had UF brought in a flat-footed QB as inexperienced as Peterman.

I'm not talking about a designed roll out... but how many times have we seen Worley/Peterman move around in the pocket to avoid pressure and/or extend plays?

I'm curious if it's a "them" thing or if they're being taught to not move around. Kinda like the OL being taught to stand still and allow the DL to basically take a free shot on your QB. Makes no sense to me but, hey, what do I know?

I'd want to protect my QB, even if it means not getting a free 5 yard penalty... that we don't get anyway.

Running throwers are over-rated. If you have a guy who can get out of a jam and pick up a few yards if needed, great. But I consistently see running QBs get hurt and make terrible decisions when they should be getting their feet planted and delivering the ball. I'd much rather have a pocket passer who can deliver the ball where it needs to be with some zing.

Right now, I'd be happier with much less, but that's where we are.

Still in denial.

And Florida always has running QBs.

Florida has been running the spread option for a bit longer than us...Over the years they have recruited running qb's...UT has always been a pro style offensive team so they mainly recruited drop back passing QB's...Not that hard to figure out.
