So I guess we've got Rolando Melancon visiting Alabama and Kenny O'Neal visiting Minnesota this weekend. I'm a little more worried about Melancon than O'Neal. Hopefully these two will anounce that they're still solid to Tennessee after the weekend is over.

Should there be any reason to worry about any other current UT commits as of right now? With Lennon Creer choosing UT, does anyone think Daryl Vereen will reconsider UNC?

Sorry, but I'll remain this peranoid until Feb. 7th comes and goes, and the Letters of Intent for all the recruits are signed. Hopefully UT doesn't lose anyone, and they add a couple as well.

Here's to a strong finish. :toast:

There is no reason to worry about O'Neal, none, zero. There is a little bit to worry about Melancon. But not too much. He is much more likely to stick with UT than switch to Alabama.

Plus, I think now we keep Melancon because of the derogatory remarks made by Saban. He is never going to be able to get another kid from LA ever again.

Doubtful. I think the only people that are offended are those that have no clue what the term ******* means in Louisiana. It might hurt him some in other states, but probably not much in LA.

What Saban said wasn't offensive.. If you thought it was, you have no sense of humor

If it's not offensive and should be funny, when asked about using the word, why did Saban say it's not a word he uses? Then he said he was just repeating a story a friend told him. The guy is digging a pretty deep hole early in his stint at UAT.

it's good to know that you can speak both for all black men and everyone from louisana at the same time. I would say that there are plenty of people that have every right to be offended by that term.

There's always one out of the crowd that will be offended. I lived in LA for several years and I never heard about one Louisianian offended by *******. Saban was making a joke. Geez, people are so sensitive these days.

Just going on what a couple of Louisiana relatives say: it's a little derrogatory, and definately not a word used in polite company. But it's not usually used to connote anything racial or meanspirited.

That said, I wouldn't be shocked if it had a racial history: kinda like "white trash".

When asked about it, why did he first deny saying it, then blame it on a "friend" that told him the story? If there's nothing wrong with it, why is he hiding from it?

If it's as you say - I'd have more respect for someone that stuck by their word. It shows poor character for him to deny saying it to people that are offended and laugh it up when using it in a joke to people that aren't offended.

Either way at this point he looks bad.

My inlaws are from S Lousiana. The only people from Louisiana offended by ******* would be those who are uppity and highly egotistical. Most find it an endearing term.

The PC nature of society these days is ridiculous. As much as I'd love to say this is a negative on Saban, its truly making something out of nothing... the talking heads just needed material.

How dare Saban. He is such a racist. He should'nt get another recruit for the rest of his life. Hope you're reading this Melancon..

No, you're right, he should have stood behind his comments.
