...I know you guys think you have maybe hte best team in the country, and are "loaded" but with todays events, what do you think now? UT is typically VERY slow starters, so Im not reading much into this, I think UT will def. show up come 9/17 in the swamp, and will be ready to play.

However, UT outmanned UAB in ever pos. and still only won by 7 ( should have been less).

Wondering if any of you guys are thinking differently about your team now, or even your overall thoughts on your team.

How do you figure "should have been less" ??? We were inside the 15 when we ran the clock out? Anyway... the D played well against probably the best player we'll see all year. I'm sure you think different, but I saw Hackney play in person today, and he carried that team to what they got.

I still think the Vols are top 5 material, and have a chance to be playing in the Rose Bowl come January, that's how I see it.

Should have been lesss---what I mean is, being an inch or so away from tieing the game ( that 4th and goal play with about 3 min. left in the game)

You can thank dee morley for stoping that play. Well my expectations haven't changed and would you really figure it to? I mean we won, you talk to us like we lost. I still feel we can go undefeated just got to work out some kinks. I rather have won by 7 and have our heads on a right then beat a team by 20 and come in cocky.

They were somewhere between the 5 and 10... the pass wasn't even close to being complete. You have to understand that we got very close to scoring and turned the ball over on MULTIPLE occasions as well... not on downs, but with picks, but it is still the same end result, you were about to score and now the other team has the ball.

Please note that at no point after the first half was UAB in a position to take the LEAD, just that one chance to tie, that they couldn't get it done in 4 downs inside the 10, and again, what about us running the clock out from their 12 or so? Had UAB scored a TD on that 4th down play, we would have scored the game winning points then. The game was never in doubt.

Maybe. However I would like to go into the game confident though. Beating UAB by only 7 and struggling in the process isnt much to build up on for facing a top 10 team.

It will be a huge game and should be close.

We could twist that around and say I'd rather struggle against UAB to open the eyes of our guys to work even harder to beat UF, rather than beating UAB soundly and heading into the swamp overconfident.

??? It all depends on perspective.

Don't you worry about us. You'll have a loss to worry about in about 13 days. We are celebrating a victory, regardless how small you think it is.

The INT Clausen threw was a tipped ball that should have been caught, that's the Drive UAB scored their TD on. If Corey holds on to the ball, or even knocks it down, they don't score and Tennessee could have. That would make it 24-3, then at the end, we kneeled on the 20. That could have made it 31-3. We could sit here all day and discuss what "could have been", but while Florida fans will be using Tennessee's performance today to try to prepare for Tennessee. Our staff will move past this, and be a better team on Sept. 17th.

GV,

If you are a UF coach, and you sit down to look at and study the UT/UAB game film, what do you key in on?

You get your defense UP (with possibily 9 in the box) to stop the UT running game AND those short quick outs to the WRs.

What do you think UT will do if you try to defend us that way?

Hackney gave the best individual perfromance against us since Grossman in 2001. He definitely deserves some credit....

I agree, I don't like us overconfident - which was possibly part of the reason for our mediocre performance against UAB. This game should bring us back down to earth and enable us to focus better for the next task at hand.

I'm not too upset with the result - IF - we use this performance as motivation and a tool for improvement. We certainly won't make the Gainesville trip overconfident, conversely, we might have a chip on our shoulder - which almost always brings out our best.

What game did you see?????
UT blew 4 TD's with mistakes
This team is loaded and they made 1st game mistakes but after seeing the UF game with that anemic rushing attack 27-20 UT over UF

Here's a news flash for you UT only ran 8 plays against UAB

I wouldn't say they will have a loss to deal with in 13 days because that's why they play the games in the SEC, you never know who will win.

I am with you on Clausen though.....Clausen played great yesterday, I'm a huge Erik Ainge fan but to be honest he looked like crap yesterday.....1st game jitters, maybe? I sure hope so, but Clausen played great and I look for him to be our starter come 9/17....If not we may be in trouble..Clausen didn't make many mistakes yesterday, and what were made on the offensive side of the ball weren't his fault

I dont think it was first game nerves. Heck, he stepped onto the field last year against UNLV and he looked great. If he was gonna have first game jitters, it would have been then.

My take is I have been hearing things about Ainge that are far less than complmentary. Its having to do with his attitude. Maybe hes been reading (and believing) all the good press he has gotten.

If that is the case, then it will humble him letting him sit on the bench for a while. Its all about leading your team. If you cant do it, then step aside and let somebody who can.
