I used to think that, in traditional terms, Alabama fans were by far the most intense football fans of the SEC. But I now believe that title belongs to you UT fans and my hat is off to you. For awhile, I have suspected it. Last week, my law partner had to go up there and get his daughter for some travel and he tells me that the local radio stations are talking about nothing other than college football and of course Vols football. It ain't like that down here. Maybe we Florida fans are a bit of a Johnny-come-lately group. Doesn't mean we don't want to kick your ass. Doesn't mean we aren't proud. But I would have to say right now that UT fans are the most intense there are in the SEC.

Just my observaton.

Probaly depends a lot on where you go and who you listen to. I Nashville the Vols have barely registered on the radar since Cutcliffe was hired. The only exception was last week with the off the field troubles seeming to rear thier head.

I agree, Tennessee does have some of the most rabid fans. However, that goes two-fold. It's good to have enthusiasm and high expectations, but it seems to get drowned out by the unrealistic viewpoints of most Tennessee fans. They do not understand competition, and the fact that no program stays on top forever. Tennessee football has had one of the greatest runs in college football for about the last 15 years. Now that the program has taken a step back, everyone acts as if the world is coming to an end. The only team in all of sports that probably deserves the scrutiny that UT gets is the New York Yankees!

I see your point and its valid, but all in all on a Saturday afternoon in October I'd rather be surrounded by the unrealistic ones rather than fans who don't care either way or just value it as a day's entertainment.

I could accept the failure more readily if the U was pulling out all the stops to turn things around, starting with replacing the man driving the bus.

I think we are equals with alot of schools, not just SEC. You don't see many UT fans painting their whole face orange on game day.I would be willing to guess any college football town would find rabid fans.I live in Middle Tennessee and the local papers are either not reporting on UT (DNJ, Murfreesboro) or cutting down the coach. The Tennessean is wishy-washy, either slamming the vols or riding the bandwagon.

If you are offering to jump ship, you're welcome to sign on with the VolNavy!!
Plenty of room for you here in Big Orange Country. I'll even send you a brand spankin' new hat to announce your defection to all your friends!!

That's because Nashville news stations and the Tennesean suck.

i've been to a lot of colleget towns in my day, and there are three that stand out to me....

Knoxville, for obvious reasons.
Lincoln, NE....they are every bit as nuts as we are, just trade orange white for red and white, and you got the same thing
the whole state of Alabama.
