The negative reaction will subside if the Vols advance to the second weekend. At that point, we will revert to being the lovable underdogs.

Bad writing but some valid points. Time for the Vols to shut his column down. That's all they can do is influence Winthrop and many more into a ride home.

Harshly written, but there's some truth to it. I did like the line about "bracketoxicology," probably because I came on here an hour after the selection show and wondered alouf if the committee was on crack when they put you at a #2.

The committee may not have done you any favors. Your team needs to get to the Sweet 16 or you'll be labeled as an overrated program a la Gonzaga for a long time to come.

It would be a step in the right direction. But even better to get to the Sweet 16 and make some noise. Better to shut them up.

I just think it is horrible that this guy is HOPING we lose just because he thinks we didn't deserve a 2. Whatever jerk, get over it...

I think it's funny watching self proclaimed experts spend a couple of days annually arguing the minutiae of whether a team should be seeded #2 or #3. It's a completely worthless discussion. Maybe a #2 seed is a little high, but in the end every team will face a similar road.

I think its funny how we tend to look at sport media individuals and are shocked when they're not 100% unbiased. They are folks just like us who have their teams, and they put their spin on it. The best thing the Vols can do...is win, that shuts up critics fast and solid.

I wouldn't characterize what the guy wrote as hoping you lose for the sake of losing as much as saying that an early loss whereas others survive below you would be some kind of vindication for those lower seeds.

Face it, there are always lots of disputes over who got in and who didn't. Tons of stories about Cincy getting left out, how some teams with sub 30 RPIs got left out, etc. And there are always complaints about seeding and tough brackets, etc. It is inherently a largely subjective task and so you have to expect these disputes.

I knew we would get smack from all the sportscasters about the vosl #2 I'm hearing from all the people I work with how overated we are and we are going to go down in the first round. Our boys and peal will prove everybody wrong and then the sportscasters can talk some sweet talk.

I'll agree with the second half of the statement... Cincy seemed to have played their way in...

Point being, there isn't much difference in a 2-4 seed, and to hope we make an early exit due to some sort of percieved snub is stupid. You win, you move on, you lose you go home...

I'm already sick of hearing this over-rated talk. Everytime I say something about the tournament I hear "Why is UT so high, who did they really beat?"

I have to admit I didnt see us getting a #2, but I am glad we did, and I hope we can prove the ney-sayers wrong.

I didn't know Tennessee chose to be a 2 seed. I always thought it was the committee. Learn something new everyday.

I think that they are doing nothing but given our team motivation to keep winnning. Come thursday I hope they shut some people up.

Even negative pub is good pub. At least they are talking about the Vols. It is becoming a media frenzy.

If the Vols make to the sweet sixteen imagine the pub. You can pay for media like that. Shutting everone up!!!!!!

This is awesome. I want them all to keep talking. Tennessee has had a heck of year, hopefully it will continue.

I knew that people would be knockin on UT after I found out that they had a #2 seed and to be honest i was surprised. I just want them to prove all these people wrong so I can laugh at them. :cross:
