We've had a tough schedule for yrs so stop trying to use this as an excuse. These players know what it's like to play a tough schedule so this isn't an excuse that can be used.

These players need to be prepared better and stop this toughest schedule, doing well only at home yadda excuses threads. Start looking at the coaching and hold them to getting things done so they start figuring out how to succeed. Be it getting new coaches etc.

If there is a more ironic post in the entire history of volnation, could someone please point me to it?

Yeah we have had this tough of a schedule for many years right? It's not an excuse, it's just fact. You obviously are mentally challenged when it comes to the game of football. No wonder your such a Dooley defender. It makes perfect sense now.

Keep on spouting your fallacious theories on what needs to be done if that makes you feel better. All you are doing is sinking further down the idiot hole. I mean getting new coaches before a full season? Jesus man, can you really be his dense???

I left it out I meant it being new asst coaches in spots, and not now but in the offseason. People need to be held accountable. I understand football enough to know that these players should be prepared better. These players are good enough to not look like they were completely lost like they were last night.

And for the record if anyone really knew what the basis of my dooley defending has to do with the fact that he had to deal with stuff behind the scenes not just being a head coach. Which took up time to get through. CBJ hasn't had to deal with any kind of major negative issues that dooley had to from day 1. CBJ is suppose to be a better coach, so where is it?? He isn't having to deal with rebuilding a whole new Athletic Dept and football team like Dooley had to work through.

Also...I understand that the toughest schedule deal is a fact...but acting as if we've had a cake walk of scedules the last few yrs and all of sudden it's tough is just ridiculous. These players especially the OL has played a very tough strech of schedules and they are looking bad. This is on the coaching and they need to be held accountable for that. This is the "best staff" in the nation...right???

This team can't win on the road BECAUSE OF DOOLEY. The upperclassmen don't know how to win on the road, because they've never done it. Know why? BECAUSE OF DOOLEY. It is superfluous to expect a complete 180 with this team's mental makeup after 9 games.

Stop being so butt hurt about your boy getting canned and realize Butch can't turn everything around after one season, with the same damn players that have been losing their entire career at UT.

H2O Vol;9438067]Guess it depends on who you're listening to and who's Strength of Schedule is being discussed. Someone on ESPN (last night) said Tennessee was 3rd behind Purdue and Utah.

Regardless, it is one difficult schedule for anyone let alone a team rebuilding and sans (overall) talented depth.

I'll be honest I didn't read what you typed..that avi...

Tennessee is #2 on Strength of Schedule in the new Sagarin computer rankings.

Sagarin Computer Rankings - November 3, 2013

If you're wondering who beat us, it's Georgia.

1. Georgia
2. Tennessee
3. Ole Miss
4. Utah
5. Iowa State

We'll probably pass Georgia for #1 next week given that we play Auburn and they play Appalachian State. Appy State is uncharacteristically terrible this year, btw, at 2-6 in FCS.

We are ranked #47 overall in Sagarin. We are one spot below 9-0 Northern Illinois and one spot above 5-3 Penn State

43. Vanderbilt, 4-4
44. Nebraska, 6-2
45. TCU, 3-6
46. Northern Illinois, 9-0
47. Tennessee, 4-5
48. Penn State, 5-3
49. Duke, 6-2
50. Fresno State, 8-0

A lot of people trash the computer rankings, but the good ones tend to be much more accurate when we're talking about football teams outside of the Top 5. Human pollsters do a terrible job factoring in strength of schedule.

As for our future opponents:

#19 Auburn
#43 Vanderbilt
#82 Kentucky

And our past opponents:

#1 Alabama
#3 Oregon
#7 Missouri
#14 South Carolina
#17 Georgia
#22 Florida
#91 Western Kentucky
#115 South Alabama
#239 Austin Peay
Probably pass Georgia? Auburn around top 10

Obviously Georgia has a worse schedule than us. I mean after all they had to play us... if we played us, we would be number 1 too. ;)

In response to Utah's schedule being "brutal," I have to respectfully disagree. In order to believe this, in comparison to UT's schedule, you would have to first believe the PAC's strength of schedule is as good as the SEC's strength of schedule. The rankings all year simply prove otherwise. This is Utah's schedule:

Weber State
Oregon State
@ BYU
UCLA
Stanford
@ Arizona
@ USC
Arizona State
@ Oregon
@ Washington State
Colorado

I would not describe this as "brutal" or even noteworthy. Is it a good schedule? Certainly, for a PAC team. But, who is their noteworthy non conference opponent? I didn't see anyone. Is this not similar to any other PAC schedule? (Reminder that UT had #2 Oregon on the road which is Utah's toughest opponent...and yet UT also played #1 Bama on the road)

Computer rankings are good, in context with other polls. It is sad (embarrassing actually) that a professional television analyst could say UT's schedule is less difficult than Utah or Purdue...it just doesn't pass the eye test.
What a beast of a first comment.

UGA plays LSU. We play Bama +1 UT
UGA plays Clemson. We play Oregon +2 UT
UGA plays unranked UT. UT plays UGA +3 UT

Most stupid bull shi* I've heard in my life.

You have to figure all the games . Their bottom three were probably better than ours ... They haven't played their Austin Peay yet

Their worst three teams they 've played are Vandy , Tennessee and North Texas. North Texas is leading CUSA West division . S Alabama is next to last in the Sun Belt and WKU is 1 spot above them. Do I need to mention AP ?

Does this computer recognize that for the second time in three years, Tennessee may well have played both teams that will play for the national title? (LSU/Bama in 2011; Oregon/Bama in 2013)?

Wonder how that's factored in.

Probably numerically in the same way as any top 5 or top 10 on one's schedule is.
