The junior from Hampton, Va., just one day after earning Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week honors, has been selected UT's first CAREacter "Star Athlete of the Week" for his efforts both on and off the field. Mayo is regularly involved in the Vols' community service efforts and this semester is participating in the VOLScholar Program for academic and citizenship-building.

He also was recognized as this week's VOLScholar of the Week by the UT Thornton Athletic Student Life Center.

I continue to be impressed with Mayo, on and off the field.

Let's nail down that first name... is it Jer-od as in Rod, or just a form of Jared?

How about Mr. Davie... Clow-zen.
That was bad too.

Who is the guy that does the starting lineups at the games anyway? I've always wondered that. I couldn't believe he didn't know Ainge's number..

Bob Kesling calls him Gerard. :shakehead:
On the Phillip Fulmer show, CPF calls him Gerard also...I was watching the show wondering how coach Fulmer gets these kids to commit to play for him while mispronouncing their names.
