inside of 5 feet that I have ever seen. I am 37, have coached boys and girls high school for 15 years, played my whole life and watched basketball as much as possible my whole life and I have never seen a team miss more shots from inside 5 feet.
5 in ot tonight.
5 in first 5 minutes of the game that I can remember.
I would venture to say 30 in the game they missed.

I love the vols, I love Bruce, I love the heart and fight the team showed tonight and how they always fight.
but for the love of god could someone learn to make 2 foot shots...
I have seen varsity girls basketball teams shoot better in close than these guys...and with the skill on this team there is no excuse except lack of concentration.

HORRIBLE

Im sure the shooting has bruce doing this:banghead2:

Even Tyler didn't hit his routine jumpers tonight. This team really needs to take a step back and learn how to execute.

100% DEAD ON! This team is NOT going to bounce back and win the SEC without being able to put the ball in the hoop.

Not to go on the personal attack, but we can't have guards driving to the hoop and missing wide open layups!

It was scary when Tyler went down, especially since he's the only one that CAN consistently put the ball in the hoop.

You can live with the poor shooting IF you are shutting people down on the defensive end. We aren't even close to keeping any defender in front of us without committing a foul or allowing another man to roam free and receive wide open passes.

Its not just inside shooting...besides Tatum noone can make 3s.

JP Prince is now 1-14 on the season from behind the arc after that gorgeous airball he mailed up in overtime.

I think anytime Prince takes a shot that's not a dunk or layup Bruce should sit him for 10 minutes automatically.:banghead2::banghead2::furious3:

What's the motto everyone uses!? DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!
If this team played defense, then they wouldnt have to worry so much about the offensive end of the floor.
Playing good defense will get you easy points off of rebounds or steals.

Playing good defense and taking quality shots. 2 things we did not do at all tonite. Oh and our ball handling sucks!

Did you see Chism shoot another stupid 3 in the second half when we were on a run?? He always does that everytime!!

THE D is truly horrible but has to be demoralizing to miss 3 or 4 shots from 2 feet in one trip.
as a coach you sit and know that it is mostly lack of concentration and you have to find a way to get through to the young group.

A wise man once told me that you can't win if you don't score.

They better figure it out quickly. There's a lot of basketball left to be played, but every game we don't win now is another game we might need in late February.

Scott Van Pelt just said "UT values the ball less than any team I've ever seen... they just run around and do whatever they want"

Scott Van Pelt is far and away my favorite ESPN analyst. Carry on.
I like van Pelt as well, but that sounds a bit like a disaster. He made us sound like turnover machines because we have no discipline. I don't think we're the turnover machines he implied.

Admittedly I know very little about basketball, but his comments seem to echo the sentiment of a lot of posters here in that we're a young team with very little focus and teamwork.

Just how I took his comments.

that's partly the point. Valuing the ball is about turnovers and turnover margin. He was mixing his analysis up.

Well was he referring to our lack of care for good shot selection? Jacking up threes anytime they feel like it no matter what time is on the shot clock and no matter what the score is or how momentum is swinging.

I was really disappointed with Tatum in the 2nd half. He forced it as bad or worse than the other guys - due to his hot streak in the first half of course. He kept trying to shot fake and get the guy in the air but it wasn't working out to well and he'd miss a 3 badly or drive into the lane and fail.. I'm guessing he felt like he had to carry the team after his outstanding first half performance.

its not too hard to understand if you miss 2 foot shots and give up 2 foot shots that they other team makes you are going to lose.
Tenn cannot count on its defense to win games this year.
