I would probably have LSU above Utah at 2, but most of this list makes sense. UConn is the team to beat if they’re healthy, but that’s been a big if lately.
The roster we have now I don't think were 11th more toward the bottom of the top 20. Wells helps but we need more guards that can shoot and drive. We need another post not depending on Key and Hollinghead to go it all and Striplin needs to play the four not five.It is way too early to predict we will be one of the 11th best teams in the country. A lot will depend upon player development, consistency from the three, improving turnover margins and controlling the boards along with a stellar defense. We need Pissott to improve and reach her potential. Darby has a good shot but disappears sometimes against top competition. She needs to work on her speed because against quick and speedy guards she has a difficult time. She also needs to be a shot creator. Jasmine Powell has to play as she played for Minnesota. What happen to her 14.5 point game average? She needs to improve her offense and defense. We need at least two impact players who can come off the bench. Wells seems to be a good find who can make a major impact. Hopefully we can find two more impact players in the portal. Hopefully with two or more years of eligibility left. We have to hope KJH’s recruiting HS improves, or she can recruit like a champ from the portal. Only recruiting 1 high schooler in 2 years will not help keep the LVs at the top of the food chain.
I see where Beal announced to the WNBA as well no word on Amihere or Cooke. Both of them coming back would help, but still have enough replacements to be a very good team.We know Boston is gone along with Saxton, Thompson, and Fletcher. Besides those I haven't seen mention of anyone else? Dawn says she'll be hitting the portal.
I wouldn't swap Fulwiley for any of LSU's recruits.
I'm looking forward to next season as SC will be in the hunt rather than be the hunted.
preseason rankings are all a bunch of crap especially with the transfer portal just starting. Sure UCONN looks like #1 until the portal unravels .Utah returns their entire roster whereas LSU loses Morris, Williams, and Carson. Until you know who is replacing Morris, Utah looks better on paper at the moment.
Can we please, for the love of God, stop pretending we're still rivals with UConn and take them off the schedule again?
Will Kellie Harper's 2023-24 schedule be easier for Lady Vols basketball?
I generally read a post, but before upvoting, I check the poster. You never fail to amaze me!“After losing Marta Suárez and Brooklynn Miles to the transfer portal, Harper said her staff feels good about the 10 returners they now have.”
I wonder if this means no one else is transferring out or is just referring to where the roster currently stands.
“"We're losing some rebounding that I think we've got to address," Harper said. "I think some scoring, some playmaking with (losing) Jordan Horston in particular, I think that's going to be some issues that we either address with the portal or we work on with some of our returning players."”
As we suspected, a playmaking guard or wing seems to be priority. And/or for Rickea to get more comfortable with her ball handling and for Pissott and Wynn to make a big leap.
