They are averaging 47 ppg in all FCS games🤔.

Even took Mizzou St to the end before fallinG short. Mizzou st is ranked 5th in FCS.

Do the Jayhawks have some FIGHT?

Missouri State is not ranked after 4 straight losses, though they played a good game against Arkansas.

Montana State eliminated them in the FCS playoffs last year, though.

Martin is 18th in the FCS polls: FCS Football Rankings - Stats Perform FCS Top 25 | NCAA.com

It's Pat Summitt's alum, too. And my mom's.

WGWTFA
I'm a UTM grad and attended UTM at the same time as Pat. UTM QB, Dresser Winn, is from my home town, Dresden. 6'3", 216 and he can run. He won our only state championship in 2016, averaging 49 pts./game in the playoffs with a passing attack that looked a lot like what UT is running now. They were down 14-0 early in Q1 and won 62-27 in the championship game. I think Winn passed for over 400 yds. in that game. Great kid and he's really good. Vols should have signed him instead of McBride in 2017--he was much better, probably better than JG. If he has time to throw the ball, he'll do well Saturday. I just hope he doesn't get hurt.

The talent at every level is insane these days, which makes these sorts of games far better than they once were from a coach's perspective. You are going to have plenty of teachable clips for the film room. Especially valuable for the second and third stringer's who get to play big minutes.

with the way we have a shot at being the playoff picture now... we honestly need to stomp every team we have a chance to now and also stop them from scoring every time we can. I don't like running scores up on the little teams... but it's the world we live in right now with the playoffs only being 4 teams

I think this is a smart game for us for a lot of reasons.
- It falls after that huge win and before our next game that matters so helps us avoid that 'winner's letdown'
- Should be an easy win where our starters are sitting after the first series of second half allowing valuable time for 2nd and 3rd stringers before our end of season run
- Should allow for some much needed rest for some key guys
- UTM runs an offense similar to ours, so we have an opportunity in case until Ole Miss upends Bama and we meet in Atlanta

Looking forward to seeing him in Neyland

On to the Next Task, #3 Vols Turn Attention to UT Martin - University of Tennessee Athletics

This week's challenge is facing a UT Martin team that features one of the top offenses in the FCS. The Skyhawks rank sixth in the FCS in total offense, averaging 485.2 yards per game, including nearly 300 yards per game through the air. UT Martin is also averaging 37.5 points per game, a figure that ranks 11th nationally in the FCS.

"They're very versatile in terms of what they're doing," defensive coordinator Tim Banks said during his press conference on Tuesday. "They have some elements of the team we just saw this past weekend. I think they also have some elements in their throw game in terms of what our offense does. Their scheme is very good.

"I like their quarterback (Dresser Winn), he's very savvy, he's made a lot of plays for those guys, and they got good skill. We tell guys all the time, we don't take anybody lightly. We know these guys are going to come in ready to play and we're working extremely hard to make sure we're ready to play as well. I got a lot of confidence in our guys, in the maturity that we have and the leadership that we have. We know we'll get their best effort and they're going to get our best effort, as well."
