Helluva a throwback game between the 'Canes & Seminoles.

The talent on the field looked superior to UT.

Kiifin & Co. have a lot of ground to make-up. I think they are up for the task !!!

This will probably get moved. Just be glad you did not take a lot of time making a detailed post with information about our program only to see it buried in an existing thread...

Superior? I watched awful special teams & awful defense. There were WR's running open all over the field, no safety help or safeties sucking in past the LB's, poor tackling, a dropped pass for the winning TD,etc.

Are you sure you weren't watching ESPN classic? Maybe something from the late '80's or early '90's?

I disagree with the OP. Everyone was wide open all game. The holes for the running backs were huge. Tons of missed tackles. I think Tennessee's defense eats these guys alive. We already know Tennessee's offense could move the ball on them.

Did anyone notice all of the post routes from FSU right by the sideline before half time and at the end of the game? They were getting 8 yards and out of bounds every play. How do you not cover that?

Both teams recruit stud athletes at the expense of size. It was a competition to see which D-line/linebacker core could get schooled worse. Honestly, the D's were horrendously undersized and beat routinely throughout this game.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought of UT vs FSU, UM. Two of the greatest Vol victories were against these teams - we destroyed UM in the Sugarbowl and whipped FSU to win the MNC.

I agree with about everyone else in this thread. Just because the game was great doesn't necessarily mean the teams are. Like some already said, the defense and special teams weren't impressive and on most of the TDs and big plays the guys were wide open.

It'd be great if FSU was back though so they could actually give UF a tough game again.

I'd love for both these teams to come back somewhat. Spread some of that florida talent around. Stop letting urban have his pick of the litter.

THE THROW AND CATCH that set up the last Miami TD was excellent - that corner route and the placement of the ball was next level. Both QBs would be upgrades over Jon Crompton, c'mon....

UT has recruited all those athletes - I believe there is more talent all over that field last night. UT is now starting 2 walk-ons and the other Sullins got extensive reps when Vlad went out.

FSU had terrible clock management and I would expect them to have scored at the end.

Again, UT is chasing all 3 FLA schools right now is the LEVEL of talent.

Again.....you are wrong. UT is not chasing the talent level of two middle of the road ACC teams.

This will be proven by the end of the year. Sit back & enjoy the ride!

UT's front line (first 11) is equal - but our depth is weak and the talent level just isn't there - look at the D-Line & O-Line depth, not to mention our LBs - the Hogfather has been on vacation since 2001.

I think UT's coaching and preparation, with the existing talent level, would lead to wins over both those teams.

Jimbo & Randy are coaching in the right league - they would get run in 2 years in the SEC.

there was a UM/FSU game a couple years ago where everyone kept saying how good the teams looked, D was too strong, gonna be contenders, etc. Turns out it was 2 mediocre teams playing an average football game. I didn't see anything on the field last night that would tell me either of those teams are contenders.

It was a cluster #$%# that was void of any defensive ability whatsoever. The team you guys just beat by 60 could have moved the ball against either of those teams. Maybe even the detroit lions.

The big 12 proved it last year. You can look great throwing the ball 50 times a game and putting up points. But when it came down to it against Bishop Urban and Pope Timmy, they were found wanting.

They do have better talent than UT at CERTAIN skill positions... but as a team, I don't see either being superior to UT. IMO.

Hahaha.

Just to be sure, that was a joke right? The 0-16 Lions would flatten the Hurricane, Seminoles and the Gators.

Case in point:

Graig Cooper #2 for Miami was the Memphis kid the Hogfather basically blew off.

That pass to Benjamin was a great play against good coverage, I'll say that. Many other times though they completed deep passes against busted coverage. I saw a lot of 3rd and longs converted too.

I didn't watch UM-FSU last year, but it was more high scoring than last night and both teams weren't anything special. I doubt either would put up the same points or yards against an SEC defense.

UT's o-line depth is weak but Sullins was apparently good enough for the coaches to consider starting him over McNeil before the injury. I'm not familiar with FSU or Miami's depth, but the Canes are a Jacory Harris injury away from a ruined season.

I'd take UT's defense this season over those two's any day. Also, FSU's had highly ranked recruiting classes but has little to show for it over the last 7 years.

FSU is MY Team!......

I hate to say this...but last night proved to me that Bobby needs to step down after this year...and Jimbo IS NOT the guy to coach them in the future.

2 guys I want as FSU coach........Mark Richt or Turner Gill! Mickey Andrews was the BEST DC in college football for yrs...and he is finished after this yr. New blood is needed in Tallahassee. Their talent level is better than UT....but their coaching is WAYYYYY behind! It's time for a change. It is sad when that team cant win with that talent!!!!!

As a Miami fan and UT fan I think the tallent is a little better at Miami except a few positions. The thing that's lacking is coaching and player development at Miami. If lane had that Miami team they would be a top 5 to 10 team but with Randy Shannon they might finish 25th. And I think that's what's wrong with the ACC as a whole. Need better coaches. But all that being said because of coaching ut would beat um right now. Urban is a wuss taking Miami off the sched and playing Charleston southern. Lol
