UT: Nation's Best O-Line?

Great Read. I like that the Oline is planning on dominating up front and not just pass protect. The run is going to be our teams savior!

Sure hope they live up to this billing.
It will be nice for and inexperienced QB who has inexperienced WRs and TEs.

Until I see a run game I remain non convinced. Wasn't Butch just saying they were having problems in practice with 4th and 1 reps? Is our defense THAT good?

I have yet to see them dominate the LOS. They have to do that before they can be called the best OLin the country.

Also give Bray some credit, I wasn't always thrilled with his choices when passing or forcing plays, but he was incredibly good in the pocket, and avoiding pressure. Sacks is just not what I base a greatest O-line on though. The greatest O lines are the ones dominating LOS, and opening up holes for runs. ....AND still protecting the pocket for QB too. Pass protection is only half of the job description.

I hope they are right, and I hope they can be the best....but need to see a running game.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are underestimating Bray's contribution to making our O-line numbers looks so good. I'll save judgement until our run average is above 5yds/carry.

I always get worried when expectations are real high. I'm just gonna set back and enjoy the season and what ever happens happens.

Yeah I can remember a couple years when Coach Fulmer claimed that his OL was the "the best he's ever coached" and then they end up being soft and ineffective.

The thing I like hearing over and over is how close this team is. At least this year the chemistry might be right.

I am looking forward to a running game finally after a 3 year hiatus.

Not sure what the average per attempt was, but Neal had 700 yards and Lane had 650 in a PASS happy offense. Of course the OL's strength isn't their run blocking but they were much better last year. They may not be the greatest at short yardage but as far as the run game as a hole why do you guys keep saying they didn't have one?

If our passing game is any good at all we may run it big this season. We have two veteran running backs hoping both go over 1000 yards.

Yeah he was a broken record for a while, huge respect for the guy, but he was always saying the same things like, "I am proud of our football team", "I love the toughness in our guys", but I guess that's what coaches say.

Our O-line has size.
Our O-line has skills.
Our O-line has experience.
But what I'm not yet sure they have is... a streak of NASTY!

If you want to be dominating line in the SEC, you gotta be nasty.

We shall see.

Hopeful.

I'm not saying they're bad, but the best? C'mon. The #1 stat people like to reference when crediting this o-line as "the best" is how few of sacks they gave up, which IMO is because Tyler bray threw to the sidelines every time before he took a hit.

Tyler could get in the fetal position extremely fast.

In reality we could have the best or one of the best offensive lines in the country and still end up with a loosing record, unfortunately.

We all know the run opens up the passing game and vice versa. If they can control the line and run the ball effectively then the pass will come. Then it comes down to our qb and wr.
