You're talking about a kid who has not taken one collegiate snap and is coming off of shoulder surgery. Let's not put all of our eggs in that basket. Ainge still has a tremendous upside, not to mention two more years of eligibility. I have a feeling that with a new OC and some actual development, he'll make believers out of all of us.

Look I love EA, but he has gone retarted. Crompton will be great. I don't think the recruiting "experts" are all idiots.

That's about the most sense I have heard of these QB threads in a while.

maybe since Ainge can't seem to play against the big dogs
of college football or even Memphis, we can get Maryville
Highschool to play us so he can get his confidence back.
Well Maryville highschool is pretty tough how about any middle schools that have a "B" team.
Maybe if Fulmer pats him on the back after a tough middle school game he will feel good about himself.
Then next year look out he may complete 50 % of his passes and most of them to our team.
enough is enough is enough is enough
MOVE ON
if you can't play against memphis come on
lets find someone who can, we are Tennessee for goodness sake

Could someone please start another RS sucks, a Casey Clausen sucked, and a Fire Fulmer thread so we can have a whole team of dead horses to pull this wagon with.

Ainge Ain't.
Crompton Could.

Ainge could
Crompton could
Cooter could
Hardegree could

Given the time, patience and good OC any of these guys COULD do well. Writing any of them off right now is foolish no matter what has happened. I'm sitting back and waiting for the new OC to come in here and work some magic. Then we can fall off of or jump on any bandwagons of our choosing.

Considering he led the team to a 21 all tie against Notre Dame, I'd say he is perfectly capable of playing against the big dogs. Notre Dame is no push over and all things considered he did well in that game. Tying that late in the game proves that there is something there in that gray matter.

Maybe he's a write-off this year but he's perfectly capable of coming back and improving.

I am convinced as long as Ainge is at UT we will have a qb controversy. last it was Shaeffer, this year clausen, and the next two years it will be cromptom. I will be really burned out on the message board by the time EA graduates.

I think this came from a butting of heads with Sanders and Fulmer. Despite both acting as if they had a great relationship this flopping all season showed there was trouble in paradise between the two of them. I think with a smart OC coming in, he will look at both, evaluate them, pick one to develop and stick with that one as the starter. Hopefully Fulmer will respect the judgment of the new OC and let that be it.

I think if Schaefer was here it would have been worse. The flopping still would have happened because the Offense problems are not just limited to QB. i think it would be worse because BS brings a completely different style in the mold of Vick that the offense showed problems with last year. It was the same thing with Shockley and Greene at UGA. A pocket passing QB style versus a scramble QB style would have made matters even worse for an obviously confused Offense.
