Group struggled with expectations from the start

By RYAN CALLAHAN
For The Tennessean

KNOXVILLE — Robert Meachem, Jayson Swain and Bret Smith came to Tennessee as one of the most-hyped groups of receivers in school history.

They were high school All-Americans ranked among the top 10 receivers in the nation and seemingly destined for stardom.

But Swain says those days are forgotten. The expectations aren't.
"If people want to feed off last year's perception, go ahead," Swain said. "There's going to be a lot of surprises." •
I sure hope he is right!!!

GO VOLS!!!! :td:

people need to let go of last year, me being a die hard fan it was very hard i spent 6 very pis*ed off sat. You cannot blame last years mistakes on any one person, a team wins as a team and loses as a team, our offense just plain stunk last year, this is a new year lets see how it goes,i believe that trooper and cutcliffe are going to get this offense going........GOOD ol ROCKY TOP, ROCKY TOP TENNESSEE

"UT receivers catch flak "

It's the media--since when do they have credibility!! They always try to "make news" because they do not want to leave their computers and offices and look for any (news).

They're gonna eat crow.

Time to earn back the respect. Make them forget about last year by putting up good numbers this year. I think it will happen.:salute:

What I'd really like to see from our receivers is 1) an admission that they realize that they've underperformed up to this point in their careers at UT, 2) a statement that they're working hard to make sure that they correct their problems this year, and 3) another statement that they hope that all of their hard work will be evident to all Vol fans by their level of production on the field this season.

That's really all they need to say. There is nothing that they can say to a reporter that is going to mean squat unless they actually show up and perform well on the field this season.
