Not strictly football (really football’s grandpa), but Tennessee has won their third consecutive conference championship in Rugby after winning the national championship last year. Always a strong program, they have taken huge strides in recent years. I played with them from 05-08, and many of my best college memories come from wearing orange and white on the pitch. I would love to see them get recognition at halftime at a game next year in Neyland.

By no means a star athlete, my main contribution was designing the UT Rugby class ring. I got the first one, now well worn and in need of a touch up.

I did play with Forrest. He was a hear behind me. Great guy, Very motivated dude
Awesome. Played Rugby with him in Spain, when he was stationed there. I am a UT grad as well (class of 2010), but played a different sport in college. Didnt start playing until I started working for the Navy. Been going 13 years now!

Winning championships in any sport based on the old English concept of two villages beating the living hell out of each other to knock a piece of leather into their neighbor's city limits will have my respect and appreciation any time.

Always considered Australian Rules and Rugby to be closest to the sport as it originally existed. The rugby concept of the "forward pass" gets me every time it is tried. Takes timing and precision to kick a ball like that...and some damn courage on the part of the man running to receive it!

Great to see these guys doing well and putting in the work on behalf of the University of Tennessee. Whether you are on scholarship or on a club, you don't win championships without the effort. These men are doing that and passing it down to incoming class after incoming class.

I remember the rugby parties at Ivy's back in the day...Great times!

I remember assisting one of them at Clement Hall while he launched tomatoes from one of the windows with a super slingshot while a pain in the ass RA was crossing the bridge over Cumberland. Bullseye! Got him good. He was like Alvin York with that thing.

That’s fantastic. Keep playing. Let Forrest know he’s remembered well.

My brother played on the team. That was back in the mid 90’s. I’m not even sure how organized they were back then. He’s a big guy and I’m not so I just partied with them. Hell, you had to be tough just to make it through their parties. Bunch of crazy dudes. Great memories.

Thats awesome!...I remember the whole team picking a random girl out of the bar and lifting her up on thier shoulders and making her the rugby queen...They would sing this dirty song to her...It was hilarious.
