Fugate will have a breakout year, he was a special teams terror last year.

I think Dontavis Sapp ends up starting alongside Johnson and (hopefully) Maggitt. He has the speed to be effective as a 4-3 OLB.

Brewer could get an NFL look with his speed and hitting at OLB. His aggression seems to hurt him at S.

I think the 4-3 helps Johnson ALOT. It will be hard to match his stats but he should be far more effective with DT's assigned to keep blockers off of him.

What about the guy from Birmingham, Alabama? I think his name is Probst. Didn't he show that he could play some????

For years...

The 3-4 change seemed to short circuit that. That system needed bigger LB's and S's. Brewer wasn't really big enough to play LB. He's nearly the perfect size to play OLB in the 4-3 and a little too big to play S unless he can learn to keep everything in front.

Did anyone else notice that we have (5) guys in the linebacking corps that are seniors?

Probst, Fugate, Crump, King & Sapp. Also, should Johnson & Maggitt leave for the NFL after this season, then we will lose (7) linebackers......

It doesnt matter who the coach is, its going to take 3 or 4 years just to be able to play with the upper teams in the SEC, we got to give coach time.

He has, they're a different kind of player though. Sapp was a safety for a while and played on passing downs last year, so he may continue to contribute in a role similar to that. Propst may be another option with more of an emphasis on playing the run as he's bigger than Sapp (I think) or even just a backup for Johnson.

Maggitt will most likely not leave for the NFL early. He has all the talent in the world but up to now, his body of work does not reflect that. And it's not his fault, it's mostly due to his being injured often. But yes, LB is a huge need for this upcoming recruiting class.

There will be a mass exodus after 2013 season. The entire OL will be gone. McCullers, Couch, Hood, Smith and maybe others on the DL are gone. The LB corps will lose 5 seniors and probably Johnson. Neal will be gone. Jone's second year will be challenging to say the least.

With a coach in this early period of his coaching and looking at what you've described above, I would normally say "better cultivate those JC relationships" (along with HS recruiting of course), but I'm not sure how JC matches up with his schemes. I'm sure there are some whose schemes (offensively) are similar, but I'm not sure about the JC in general. What JC schools should he target if he's inclined to do so?

Agreed. I'm sure, I hope at least, he'll be getting a lot of the underclassmen experience in games this year to prepare for the future.
