What do you all think about Pearl taking the seats out of the student section? UT will remove more than 200 folding chairs from the ends of the court, creating a zone where the students will stand the whole game. This is something Pearl is bringing in from UW-Mil.

An expanded section for the pep band will keep it's seats. Hamilton also said that seats for 50-60 students will be added near the Tennessee Bench.

Interestingly, the Lady Vols will keep their normal seating configuration.

I think it's the right move. Now if we could get the students all around the basketball court, we will be in business.

That's a great idea. They have a section like that behind the basket at Rupp.

yeah but the section is still in the CORNER! that's retarded in my opinion.

as far as I can tell, it seems like a good idea. Unless i'm wrong, there will still be the student seating in the corner, and the standing room behind the goal. THat works for me. I've talked to people that feel both ways about it, but i'll wait until it happens to decide which I like better.

add to that student seating behind the Vols bench it could add excitement.

He could leave leave the seats and they could just sit during halftime...heck even the Cameron Crazies sit then and only then.

I agree with that, but without the seats, you can fit a lot more students in a smaller space. If they manage to sell all of the student tickets with a set-up like that, it will get rather loud.

I always thought those folding chairs got in the way anyway, and it's not in the corner, it is directly behind the basket.

ukvols, students don't buy tickets, in fact, for men's bball games you don't get a "ticket" at all, you just swipe a valid student ID at the door.

I would also like to see student seating behind the bench, but I doubt they'll do that, ppl pay for those seats right now.

How do UT students get their football tickets? By the way, football games and basketball games are $5 each for the students.

Since when? When I was there, there was an "activities fee" that was mandatory, and included all the games if you requested tickets.

I like this idea about taking out the chairs. Now, if we could just remove the bleachers from the alumni sections at Neyland, we'd be set!

there is an activity fee of like 100.00 for the year, but football and basketball games charge no extra admission.

Students go to the ticket office in the UC for football tickets, and they swipe your id, and you get random tickets. (seats are together, if you go at the same time)

for basketball, you just line up outside the student gate, then swipe your id at the turnstile to get in. there is seating behind the goal, next to the pepband, and in the corner section adjacent to that.
